Thank you. That does seem like a possibility as well. It’s kind of a sad thought that this bunny – at approximately 4+ years old – hasn’t learned that yet.

I’d give it more time — the skin flinching can be a normal reaction for rabbits who have not yet learned what a human pet feels like and the nice consequences of it. It is a new feeling and like with anything new, most rabbits will react in an anxious and guarded way.

Right, so basically just be prepared that we could face a relapse regardless. Hopefully not, I don’t think I could handle it again to be honest.
He’s had 4 full days of his antibiotics so far, this evening he gets his 5th dose, and I haven’t heard any improvement. He’s on a 10 day prescription so feeling very discouraged, as I would have hoped t…[Read more]

She’s pretty! Since you’ve only had her for a month, is it possible you’re just seeing a physical manifestation of her internal struggle to trust you despite her prey instincts? Do you know what the environment she was in before was like and whether she was abused or whether she had very much human interaction?
You’re right that is possible…[Read more]

He is doing a lot better today, yesterday he actually ate a nearly-normal portion of pellets by himself, but I’m keeping the canned pumpkin tip, in case he stops again. I will make sure to avoid sugar.
I see, I will get some cat grass today then! Thank you very much.
I spoke with the vet again and she told me, since his mood and activity seems…[Read more]

Hello! He seems to be doing better, most of the time. Thank you so much for the tip!! I actually noticed mine doing this by himself last night, picking out only the softer/smaller bits, I am going to follow your example and pick them out for him manually.

Yes, cat grass if often wheat grass, but can also be oat or barley. Nothing wrong with any of those grasses. They are safe to feed to a bunny. Fresh grass will “feel” like veggies, but it will have more fiber.

Hi everyone,
I adopted a Californian from the humane society a month or so ago. She has had her checkup and seems healthy though a bit extra chubby. She is my third rabbit in the house (my other bonded two are in the front of the house) and I also have foster rabbits in another room. She lives in the main family room and gets to come and go as…[Read more]

Hello, I hope he’s feeling better today. My rabbit has been sick several times over the last year and when he’s sick I have started picking out all of the soft hay tops from the hay pile and feeding them to him by hand. I can get him to eat those a lot of times when he isn’t interested in the rest of the hay so if he still isn’t eating his hay…[Read more]

You said there isn’t space downstairs and it isn’t safe but I’m wondering if you can possibly move some things? Would you parents be ok with you doing some spring cleaning and getting rid of some things that are no longer used? Then you could get one or more ex pens to put together to make a safe space where they can’t get into anything they…[Read more]

So I did 2 more longer sessions with the 3, and things seemed to take a step back again. Ruby and Snoopy do OK, but Maxwell was getting more nippy again and not going as close to Snoopy. Today I decided to try again with just the boys and seems to be a little better. Maxwell still does small lunges but not those ripping out fur bites like the…[Read more]

It does sound like he’s improving! It sounds wise to feed him pellet mush because he needs sunbstantial food to regain his strenght. You can mix pellet mush with unsweetened canned pumpkin (plain, not pie filling) or small amounts of unsweetened baby fruit- or berry puree and see if he will eat the mix voluntarily. Dont give too much sugar since…[Read more]

I doubt a vet would do much with a small cut in an ear except clean it. You can use povidone-iodine to clean it or chlorhexidine. Hydrogen peroxide is less good for wound cleaning since it causes some tissue damage that can delay healing. As Wick says, keep an eye and contact a vet if yiu see any signs of infection.
English lops are indeed prone…[Read more]
