Yay! I’m glad you had a wonderful vacay! Your sitters sound like great people, and it seems you gave them very good instructions!
Stasis is serious, so it is very important that a sitter understands this, even if its a sitter that has lots of experience with other types of pets. For example, for a person used to dogs, it doesnt seem much to worry…[Read more]

Thanks again for everyone’s help and advice.
Just an update on this.
We could not find a rescue with space available in the end, we did go away and had a wonderful holiday. All buns were well looked after and tended to by our two sitters, we were updated daily and had a few phone calls from them to double check any worries which turned out to be…[Read more]

I agree. It’s difficult to tell from this photo what’s really going on here. Also, if it is just tearing, it could be something else entirely ranging from blocked tear duct to a dental issue.

Some bunnies are just prone to gas and GI upset. For some, it could be genetic. For others, perhaps they just have a sensitive digestive system. One of my bunnies was prone to gas, but it always seemed to pass quickly. He was always that way, even from a young age.
Have you looked at her pellets? Sometimes bunnies have trouble with certain…[Read more]

Hello!
We had another bout of gas from Nellie tonight. Of course this happened at 11 pm so we began treating at home. She had some loxicom, smithecone, a tiny bit of water and light belly rubs. An hour and a bit later and she’s taken a treat and some carrot tops had a good groom and has returned to a relaxed flooped position. I will stay up for…[Read more]

So things have been pretty stagnant. I decided to bring them up Saturday to my living room again, and since they were doing OK I’ve left them there now 48 hours lol. They are doing well enough that I can sleep or hear any scuffles, and other than a couple fur pulls they are only nipping. I thought I’d see more progress after them stuck together…[Read more]

Can you provide details on what exactly you’re seeing? Due to the picture quality and not having a baseline, it’s difficult to tell if there is something very concerning happening, or if perhaps it’s just artifacts of a small picture.
From what I can see, it looks like there’s a lot of irritation around the entire eye (observing the pinkish…[Read more]

I dont know what type of fur a Californian should have, but some daily sunflower seeds could perhaps help with fur quality. Sunflower seeds have a very good mix of fatty acids.

It looks like a dead tooth to me as well. Perhaps a peg tooth that tried to grow back at one point?

To me it looks like a “dead” tooth. I had a bun who had “dead” teeth on his right side upper jaw. They were not infected, just useless and made chewing painful for him. It’d probably be better for yout bun if you could have the tooth pulled.

Hi everyone,
I have an ~8 year old “big ugly” Netherland dwarf rabbit. His previous owners had his teeth pulled when he was little because they were crooked, but he still had one weird tooth that grew straight out from his gums, kind of behind where his front lips split. It’s never bothered him, but I checked on it today and it has what looks to…[Read more]

I will for sure, and good to know! Also something I’ve realized with him is that I think I have to shave him like once a year in order for his fur to look good and healthy. I got him after he was shaved and when it grew back his fur looked great, but over the past 6 months or even a year his fur has just constantly been in a state of m…[Read more]
