unfortunately I had to take my computer to repairs earlier today so I wasn’t able to get a photo, but she tried to start puppy-type playing with him and ended up almost hurting him. Luckily I was there and I think that she understood she has to be calm around them. My cousin is attempting to save up money for a small dog for me, simply because I…[Read more]

I used artificial tear eye drops. The vet said as needed, so it was a couple times per day (which was about all he would tolerate).

Only a small slice of banana! Bananas have a lot of sugar, so you don’t want them eating a lot.

Nothing. Unless you are immunocompromised (think HIV, cancer, etc.), then it is very unlikely you will develop an EC infection. Besides, if he is actively shedding spores (which he probably isn’t), then you would have been exposed long before this by cleaning his litter box, etc.

A piece of paper litter fell in my cup, and I didn’t notice until I’d already taken a drink. He tested positive for e. cuniculi a few months ago. What do I do?

Here’s a method for nail trimming that doesn’t involve trancing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9KemnaTGIs&ab_channel=Howcast

I would give this a shot. I have in the past used trancing for rabbits that are VERY difficult to do nail trims on, but only when the only alternative was a trip to the vet (as I figured a few minutes of trancing was…[Read more]

a half or a whole banana would be way too much! a small slice is like a candy bar for a rabbit. A 1/2 inch (1 cm) slice is plenty.

Sugary foods can cause digestive upset and if you give too much they may not want to eat their hay. If your bun doesn’t have good hay eating habits yet then I wouldn’t give any fruit yet and focus on getting their hay…[Read more]

Oh that’s lovely that he’s good about the drops! And it’d be great if you could train him to come for drop-time! My bunny Vilde got syringed meds + a portion of CC every evening for a long time, he came hopping when he heard me getting out the gear in the kitchen 🥰 Still absolutely refused to eat CC from a plate, but he seemed to like it from a…[Read more]

Jupiter: As with all new food, start small. Banana is very sugary! If you like banana yourself and since Jupiter is a big boi, you could let him have like a centimeter (about 1/2 inch) slice when you are having a banana. Although he will probably attack you for the rest of the banana as well, so you may have to eat your share in another room.…[Read more]

I know this isnt fully related but how much of a banana should I give a rabbit? Like half once a week, or just the whole thing. I was thinking of trying something new for Jupiter

I was wondering why that he was so calm when I clipped his nails. I was like ¨Mom, he’s not complaining or anything!¨ and we thought it was bitter-sweet. While I cut his nails almost the exact way I wanted them, we were worried that maybe there be an underlying issue. I’m glad you told me!

Yes, I should have specified. He is using artificial tears. He used antibiotic drops for a few days after his vet visit then switched to artificial tears.

That helps to know how much you did with the dog. I wish he could just tell me if he needed more or not. He’s actually very good about getting the drops though and I’m working on training him…[Read more]

I too think this is referred aggression due to the presence of the other bun. We had one member who started volunteering at a rabbit rescue, and even though she made sure to wash her hands and change clothes when she came home, her own bun  attacked her viciously and relentlessly.

This might subside with time, when your bun gets used to the…[Read more]

I assume these are tear replacement drops? I’ve only given tear replacement drops to a dog, but I’ve given fucithalmic (antibiotic) drops to one of my rabbits. That was twice a day. Tear replacement drops can, as your vet says, be given more often, since its the fluid itself that does the job, not any drug that’s in the drops. If he doesnt mind…[Read more]

Does anyone have experience using eye drops on a rabbit? I have a Polish and one of the breed characteristics is that they have fairly large eyes for their body size. He has had several random eye issues in one eye only, and after having no luck finding a corneal scratch or anything during the last issue, the vet suggested that I start using eye…[Read more]

Don’t beat yourself up, I used to do this too when I was younger and had 4-H rabbits, before I knew it was stressful for them. Sleeping on their back is a bit different, there is something about being flipped and held that triggers the “trance” (also known as “tonic immobility). It is still used somethings for medical procedures or things like…[Read more]

You will need to keep them 100% separated, they can mate in a flash, even while supervised. They will try very hard to “get at” each other, so it’s very important they can’t access each other at all. Buns have also been known to mate through cage bars (somehow!).

The best thing will be to keep them separated and start saving up to get them spayed…[Read more]
