My bunny Metoo, a white mini-lop, will be ten years old in October. We have been very careful with the types of food we feed him since his purchase almost ten years ago at the age of 8 weeks. We mostly feed him oaten hay, Oxbow adult rabbit pellets and some veggies after he became an adult. But over the past month or so he has been losing weight,…[Read more]

Thank you for the responses! I have a urine removal spray that I have been using because he used to pee on the bed (I don’t let him up there anymore). He has been peeing near his litter box so I will keep an eye on him for signs of illness. He’s still eating and peeing normally (not strained) and running around, but he is almost five years old, so…[Read more]

Snowball loves sitting in front of our fan in the living room ! Here in the UK, the weather is hot and muggy at the moment, so snowball loves to sit / lay in front of the fan whenever he gets the chance to 🙂

CutieMoosh started the topic Bunny acting weird and won't eat in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 8 months ago
My bunny seemed normal today but at around 8:00pm he took a few bites of hay and then got mad and stopped eating. Whenever I try to nudge him to eat he gets mad and runs away. I then tried giving him an apple slice and after eating about half of it he got mad and ran away. He looks like he’s alert and scared of something, but I’m not sure if there…[Read more]

Hi everyone, so my bunny is frequently suffering from gi stasis perhaps 4 or 5 times a year and the problem is always solved with baby gas drops. My question here is why does it happen so often and all of a sudden because her diet consists of hay and pellets and her poops are amazing shape and color, she is also free roaming so she exercises a lot…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Chewing on bars in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 8 months ago
Does your bunny chew constantly or just take “test bites” here and there? I agree that bunnies will naturally want to test boundaries and a little nibble on the bars just to make sure they are solid isn’t going to hurt anything.

As Adrian says, putting hay in the litterbox and adding several “hay stations” around the bunny area can help up hay consumption. Rabbits seem to like “found” hay better than served hay. Just putting small piles of hay here and there on the floor can help. One of my buns eats a lot of hay if he can sneak into the hay source, aka the big hay bag.…[Read more]

What type of peeing are you observing? Litter trained rabbits can start to pee outside the box for both normal reasons and abnormal.
A normal reason for peeing outside the box is pee marking. It often, but not always, means pee spraying. The rabbit often chooses the humans’ favorite spots, like their beds or on the sofa. A rabbit that starts to…[Read more]
