Have you tried asking your vet if they can help in any way? Sometimes a vet will know of someone who can give a rabbit a good home, or they might put up a notice of rabbits for adoption in their office. A notice in a vet’s office should be safer than posting on Craig’s List.
Rabbits, or any animals, should not be given as gifts, so that would m…[Read more]

It may be coincidental since it’s a single case, but my Wick had atypical syphilis, though symptomatically his scabs (which for him was only around the mouth) only appeared after he contracted ringworm.
Before all the ringworm, he had a URI that took about 5-6mo to resolve. Ultimately it was a combo of Baytril and Penicillin injections that did…[Read more]

Hmm… yes, I think something else is definitely going on here. Although a dirty bottom and incontinence can be caused by a lot of things. Usually if syphilis is the reason, there are lesions in that area too. But you never know. At least now you know that you may need to do some detective work to figure out what’s going on with him. I would ask…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic 3rd eyelid torn by cat (Vet tomorrow, non emergency) in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 8 months ago
I have some experience with this. The treatment was antibiotics and pain meds. Eventually we had to go with steroid eye drops to get the inflammation down because he kept aggravating it. Steroids are generally not used in rabbits, but external ones (drops) as “less bad”. The third eyelid eventually healed, but it was never the same. There was…[Read more]

I’m sure he will get over it eventually. I know it’s hard to resist, but you really should allow him time to settle in his new home. You need to work on gaining his trust too. Picking him up and holding him, especially when you first bring him home, is going to be counterproductive.

He will get over it . Just give him time. He’s in a new environment. Give him a oxbow treat to gain his trust . Usually rabbits don’t like being picked up.

Here’s a webpage that can give some guidance: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Rehoming_your_rabbit
One necessary and adaptable way to weed out gifters and other individuals is charging more for the rabbit– those who are whimsically gifting a rabbit to someone else without much thought or are only willing to spend limited money for cheap stuff will…[Read more]

I’m sorry this happened.
Great that you gave a painkiller! You can put neomycin/polymyxin b/ dexamethazone ointment on a rabbit’s eye, even though rabbits as a species are extra sensitive to corticosteroids. I don’t know how effective ointment would be in your case though.
I’d try to clean the eye with saline eye rinse for humans -just rinse it,…[Read more]

Technically it’s not an emergency and he is acting fine (Extremely healthy, spry, neutered, 6 year old tortoiseshell /Harlequin. Eating, drinking and running around outside right now.) My cat got in his room for a split second and hooked his 3rd eyelid and tore it. A strip of it keeps poking out and it did bleed like 2 drops right when it…[Read more]

Hello, about a year ago my father purchased an unfixed male and female Lionhead bunny. Before he was willing to get the male fixed, or find a proper way to separate them, they ended up with a litter. He’s taken care of now, but as for the bunnies, I’ve contacted every animal shelter and the nearest branches of House Rabbit Society, but all of the…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Can a dominate bunny smother a bunny intentionally in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 8 months ago
I’m very sorry that the bun passed.
The Binky Bunny forums is not the best place to ask about baby buns. Since the topic of intentional breeding is prohibited here, most of our members have very limited experience with baby buns.
I’d suggest you ask at RabbitsOnline instead. They have a forum section called The Rabbitry and Showroom were all…[Read more]

Thank you for your response!! I was actually thinking the same thing about Bordetella, but just listened to the vet and let her do her thing but maybe I should bring that up to her. His nose is still red, but not as bad as it was when I first adopted him. He is kind of a weird rabbit and also struggles with keeping his bottom clean, I am not sure…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Chewing on bars in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 8 months ago
Rabbits are apt to do silly wabbity things, like chew bars from the outside or from the inside of a cage that’s always open. Why they do this is still not fully understood by us mere humans. It could be that they just always want to take the shortest distance route to whatever target spot they’ve picked.
It is however best to try and stop them,…[Read more]
