Kat started the topic Rabbit Broke His Foot – What Are Our Options? (X-rays Included) in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 10 years ago

Four days ago our rabbit Memphis broke his left hind hock/calcaneus. We took him to our local vet who suggests euthanasia and does not believe that there is anything else we can do.

We are shocked by this. We’ve seen many stories online of rabbits who have healed broken bones naturally in confinement over time, had bones pinned or plated to…[Read more]

    October. Already. Eeek!

My sinuses and I woke up late today. Chewie, an hour past his usual breakfast time, heard me rustle the duvet, galloped into my room, hopped on my bed, gifted me with…[Read more]

So this is going to be my first instalment of Lily’s Spay/ Recovery Diary. I’ve decided to get her spayed at a vet that is about 30 minutes away from me and due to that she unfortunatley has to stay the night before her surgery at the vet (The vet only does surgerys at 8:30am and 8:30am is also peak traffic time!) I’m going to drop her off…[Read more]

Right now I have a ceramic bowl I am using for his water but when he starts to run around the fleece I use under the xpen moves and the water bowl is usually knocked over. I am wanting to switch to one of the lock on crock type bowls that I can attach to the side of the xpen. Would it be best to get a plastic bowl or a stainless steel…[Read more]

Bunbun started the topic Teeth clicking (not grinding) super worried! in the forum BEHAVIOR 10 years, 1 month ago

I took my rabbit out today in the car. He was extremely scared (he never takes car rides very well). There were several things he did that made me nervous, though.
    1. This was the worst one: he was clicking his teeth! It wasn’t a grinding noise, it was as if he was opening and closing his mouth to make his teeth click together, or like the…[Read more]

Milo is a tiny three-pounder, Polish mix. I want to find a playpen or a gate that I can latch onto Command Hooks to cover a 6-foot opening. It would be ideal for it to have a door for me to enter his space.
It seems that, when there is a door, there are usually large gaps in the pen. Since he is so tiny and loves to rattle his current playpen…[Read more]

I saw this today and thought it was interesting. Unfortunate circumstances probably that the research was undertaken in but I think a visual guide like this could be worthwhile to some people.
It’s called the Rabbit Grimace Scale and was developed by lab researchers to determine indicators for levels of pain in rabbits. They also developed ones…[Read more]

Hello! I have a five year old rabbit named Thumper. We were told he’s underweight and we need to help him gain a few pounds, but we don’t know what to feed him that’ll help him put on the weight. He’s been fed good quality pellet, of which the brand name has slipped my mind, and timothy hay. I often supplement this with chard, baby kale and…[Read more]

A few days ago, I’ve noticed that my little dwarf girl (Waffuls) had some fur missing on her face. I took a look at it, and nothing seemed “bad” about it, just a bald spot. Yesterday I noticed it was due to the other rabbit licking/biting/grooming her face obsessively. I’ve tried shooing him away every time I see him doing it now, but it’s so…[Read more]

So, I have a 3 month old mini rex currently on alfalfa hay from PetCo (we don’t have other places that sell alfalfa hay). I’m about done through her first bag, but almost all the stems/stalks are gone and it’s mostly just a pile of crumpled up leaves. I’ve noticed she’ll pull out her stems from the hay feeder and specifically go for the leaves…[Read more]

I had a 1 year old neutered male for 2 months and decided to foster-to-adopt a spayed 1 year old female. We kept them in separate cages, but the cages were next to each other and would take turns letting them out. After a few days we started swapping their cages. The female (Zyra) really blossomed this way. She was calm, friendly, and becoming…[Read more]

Hey all. I’ve searched the forums to see if anyone ever asked this, but I couldn’t find anything. For just my one bunny, should I have one or two litter boxes in her cage? I only ask because her bunny condo is a few stories high, and I’ve finally opened up the upper levels for her since her spay. Before the surgery, she always hung out on the…[Read more]

Today I noticed that my 6 month old rabbit Rolo has a pea-sized (and shaped) hard lump on his ear. OK, the Vett says you have to give your bunn 1 1/2 ml of XXX every day.  What to do!  To syringe feed a bunny medicine, you have to grab them, hold them, place the syringe in between their incisors and molars.  This is a BIG problem, because bunnies don’t like to be caught,  picked up, and force fed medicine..
    ….How to do it easily!
    First of…[Read more]
