Hi!
7 weeks is not super-young, rabbits can be separated from their mum at 6 weeks and from their siblings at 8 weeks. They are by then fully weaned. Thank you for taking these rabbits in!
Have you tried picking the injured bun up to feel the hurt paw? If you feel it (gently) you may be able to better asses the injury. You could also see if…[Read more]

Hi guys! This is my first post here so bare with me…
we have two 7 week old rex rabbits that we have had for two weeks and a half now. (We are aware this is much too young but they were going to be killed😭 and we thought we’d give them our best shot) anyways, they have been doing really well, but yesterday one of them started acting really s…[Read more]

Thank you for once again so much for your reply. I am more calm now cause as soon as i found the growth i was in a panic for my baby. I will keep an eye on her everyday and i really wish and hope that it will either remain the same or regress on its own. At this point it doesnt seem to bother her at all. She is her usual happy self. I would…[Read more]

Oh that would have been scary to see the choking, im sorry. Was there anything you could do when he had those episodes? Is the medication helping him do you think? His lungs are sounding clear? I assume vet checked. They always listen to heart & lungs first whenever mine are at the vet.
Im quite interested in looking into this further. Is t…[Read more]

Oh yes, its really not suitable wire to keep then contained or safe. Other predators can chew through it also or dig under it. If housing outdoors, you’d need to use something stronger lile aviary mesh. If habitat is on soil, you would also need to line the ground with mesh then cover in more soil. To prevent rabbit digging way out or something…[Read more]

A change in behaviour may be the only clue we get that something is amiss healthwise. If his eyes are wet, you may want vet to do eye pressure test, check the tear drainage ducts and probably do a dental check also.
Perhaps he has had some vision loss? I recall my lop (now passed) had what seemed an overnight change in behaviour around this age.…[Read more]

Hi there, welcome! First let me say you may not get too many responses yet as the forum is still under construction, but I will do my best to give some advice here. 🙂
Second, take a deep breath! It will be ok! 🙂
I would just go under the assumption that she is spayed. You haven’t mentioned anything that would make me think otherwise (like…[Read more]

I’ve had nora, a female Dutch rabbit we rescued for about two years and was told she was spayed but we were never 100% positive. My boyfriends mom is an exotics vet and very much bunny savvy and said the procedure to find out/spray her if needed is too risky because of previous health issues. Recently we rescued a holland lop, Theo (male) who is d…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for you loss. I agree with Dana, RHDV is a possible explanation. There have been outbreaks in several states recently including New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. The virus is highly contagious. Hopefully, your remaining bunny did not catch it from the others. The link Dana provided has great information.

Hi! So I recently got a baby bunny, about 7 weeks old. I built her a large hutch, too. I accidentally purchased chicken wire, which I learned they can chew through. I have 3 cats. So far she has not been able to escape nor have the cats been able to get in, but I noticed her chewing on the wire. I was wondering if she would still chew through the…[Read more]
