Thankyou very much for replying! Yes they were both little girls.
There is only one local animal sanctuary who I have been in contact with. Unfortunately they have no single bunnies at present and are also closed due to Covid.
I am in such a dilemma as to whether to:
A – wait it out until the shelter has a single bunny and reopens but this is a…[Read more]

Yes, her brother is with her. He does always groom the eyes, I’ve noticed this.

Is she with another rabbit? If she is bonded to another, its possible her mate is overgrooming her. They really focus on the eyes.
How does the bare skin look there?

Oh Im really sorry that happened. Was the other rabbit a female also?
Would you consider getting an already desexed rabbit from a rabbit rescue? I know that might be challenging at the moment due to Covid19 but it could be worth investigating if some placed are allowing adoptions to go ahead. Some might still be looking for foster carers a…[Read more]

I had 2 sibling rabbits who were unbelievably close. They went to get spayed on Monday however one did not wake up from the anaesthetic. I am obviously now worried for my remaining bunny Cooper being alone, and she has started to chew on everything in sight.
does anyone have any advice on introducing a new bun? The vet said to wait a month but…[Read more]

One of our nethies, seems to be missing some fur around the lower part of her eye, no weeping, just looks like the fur has fallen out!
Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

jerseygirl replied to the topic Neutered female having phantom pregnancies and bladder mishaps in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 5 months ago
I agree, there is less of a risk with the ovaries. There is a biologist in Miami (Dr Dana Krempels) who runs a rabbit rescue/sanctuary and has a lot of published papers on rabbits. Some years ago, she said they were trialing hysterectomies and leaving the ovaries. She said they noticed the Does were more calm and bonded well with other rabbits…[Read more]

Ovarian cancer would still be a possibility if she still has her ovaries left. It is, however, uterine cancer that is of most concern in rabbits. It’s uterine cancer that’s so common in unspayed does.
You will have to discuss this with your vet, obviously. I’m glad you got an appointment so quickly!

Hi and welcome!
I think you can give 1 gradation to your bun even though he is just 1.5 kilos. I base this on 2 things:
1. The safety-profile of Panacur, which moderator Jerseygirl found for us, it’s available as a PDF but I will add the relevant part as a picture to this post.
2. JG also found a thread on another forum where this exact matter…[Read more]

Question for you. IF there were ovaries left inside her, hopefully not, would she need another op to remove to prevent ovarian cancer?

Thanks again, I emailed the vet and she’s going in Monday to have a blood test to check hormone levels, they are also going to check bladder etc. I thought she was the right age for the op but maybe they have missed something. The vet said he was pleased with the original op and was surprised these things were happening. Bless her, so worrying.…[Read more]

Hi everyone thanks for you replies this is really helpful, it’s such an awkward time with COVID closing a lot down at the moment but I might ring and speak to his vets to see what they suggest, and if they want him in or not. 💛 he doesn’t seem distressed at all, but the second I open his bedroom door the buzzing begins! For those who asked for a p…[Read more]

Hi, I posted a couple of days ago about my rabbits face humping one another and occasionally humping from behind. We concluded that as they didn’t react it was less of a concern but to keep an eye out. However, They woke me up very early this morning, to running round the hutch and quickly turning to face each other, with a few nips. I’m gue…[Read more]

Update: The bunnies were doing well in the bathtub (cuddling and grooming for hours with no fights), so I upgraded them to a playpen in the living room for the first time.
The bonding session was 2.5 hours total. For the first hour, they just played, groomed each other, and ate. After about one hour, the submissive one, Freddie, humped Coal. Coal…[Read more]
