Sounds like he is free range? I think your best bet is keeping him in an enclosure inside at least until he’s neutered and litter trained…maybe in your bedroom or study if to keep from offending your family..lol. You can get cubes or an xpen to keep him out of trouble, and watch how he’s using his box. Any stray droppings sweep up and place in…[Read more]

Beau Bunny replied to the topic Are fresh grass, herbs, and weeds a good substitute for hay in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 5 months ago
Thanks Bam! I feel better knowing fresh grass works. I guess that is a dumb question since hay IS grass…but in Florida we have Saint Augustine grass which doesn’t seem very…hay -like. If that makes sense.
Some of the weed, namely the Florida Betony is very grass like. Beau eats the the whole stalk/stem, plus the leaves and flowers. When I was…[Read more]

Hi there! When I have my bunny (3 month old Holland Lop) up on the couch with me, I put a clean litter box with some hay and paper litter up on an old diaper changing pad on the actual sofa, and he hasn’t had an accident yet. It’s a very large sectional sofa and he has just started attempting to jump down, which I discourage because it’s a pretty…[Read more]

TimTim is like this. Clothing, my bedding. He gets in modes. Sometimes he’ll settle when I pet him. Other times he’ll continue to nibble while I pet him and he’s just gonna stay in that mode. I do have some success with doing a short “brrrrt” noise. Basically like making a fart noise with your mouth. Sorry, lol. It’s the only way I can think to…[Read more]

If you have a fine tooth flea comb, that can help remove more once it’s softened.

I have found if it is a super soft blanket they will pee on it. I use cloth pee pads instead of blankets. I kind of think they get confused because they’re litter is soft, and so is the blanket.

Bam replied to the topic Are fresh grass, herbs, and weeds a good substitute for hay in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 5 months ago
Fresh grass is an ok substitute for hay. Hay is various dried grasses. Fresh grass has the fiber a bun’s teeth and tummy needs. Herbs and weeds are more to be considered as greens and vegetables. They’re healthy and good, but they dont wear the teeth like grass does and they dont have as much fiber as grass, and the bunny tum as you know, needs…[Read more]

Hi everyone, Beau barely makes a dent in his hay. He gobbles lettuces and herbs and grazes in his play area on fresh grass (Don’t worry, no pesticides or fertilizers). He also gets fresh herbs from the garden.
Are these (fresh grass, weeds, and herbs) good substitutes for hay or he still needs to be eating ample hay? If the latter, should I…[Read more]

Beau Bunny started the topic Bunny safe wild potherbs and plants in your area in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 5 months ago
Hi all! Unfortunately there isn’t really a solid resource out there on edible wilds for bunnies, so I start with human safe greens to forage because according to the house rabbit society website: if it’s safe for humans it’s typically safe for buns.
Here is what I have so far that is safe in Florida:
Crespis Japonica: Seasonal potherb also known…[Read more]

Hi @Wick – thank you for the response! The vet didn’t mention anything about wearing gloves, so we have not been doing that when giving him the medication – oops! I will mention that to them when they call to see how he is doing.
Ollie’s been given the medication for a few days now and seems to be taking it well – still eating, drinking, &…[Read more]

I had that problem with my lovely Bam. The only solution that really worked was to wear bunny clothes, ie clothes that you dont mind if they get chew holes in them 😬 My mother was Bam’s major target, since she was his favorite person, and he loved sitting in her lap.
I also recommend the Japanese fabric mending-technique Sashiko-Boro to owners of…[Read more]

Hi everyone!
our bunnies have now been with us for a little over a month and are almost 9 weeks old. They have two rooms to free roam and are seemingly very happy!
our only problem is that we want to let them on the couches as they are starting to be able to jump up and actually seem to want to come see us when we are there. Only thing is,…[Read more]
