When it comes to bonding, sometimes a little bit of stress can be a good thing. If you don’t want to do a car ride, you could try the cardboard box trick. You put the bunnies in the box and then drag it around, shuffle it, etc.

Can you give us more information? Is this a bonded pair? Or do they live separately? Is the other rabbit spayed/neutered?

I think perhaps the nail was “dead” after a break that wasnt all the way through or occured above the skin-line, some time ago. These things happen, especially with active buns.

Our buns wont accept frozen bottles or being sprayed. It sounds like the first incident didn’t last very long. I’m wondering if he is just prone to having gas, either in general or as an after effect of the first incident.
