I’m sorry for your loss. I think everyone feels some level of guilt after losing a pet. It’s normal. But as Bam said, feeling guilt doesn’t automatically translate to guilty. You feel guilty because you loved your bunny very much. I agree that there may have been more going on besides her simply starving to death. As Bam said, there could have been…[Read more]

I agree! He looks like he had the chinchilla coloring. Such a beautiful bun! I’m sorry for your loss.

Yes, bunnies can go through an awkward stage as they reach adulthood. They can look a bit lanky after reaching their adult size and have not filled in yet.

I’ve seen this in older bunnies before. It just seems to be dry/flaky skin. Perhaps it is just a symptom of old age?

I agree with Bam. Considering they are missing part of their noses, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume they have lost part of the natural defense the mucosa. It’s possible they both inhaled something while digging in the dirt.

Sometimes these things just happen and there really isn’t anything we could have done differently… even though we often think that we could have. It’s human nature, after all. But some bunnies are just susceptible to certain types of infections and no matter how we try to treat it, they eventually lose the battle. Sometimes it is relatively…[Read more]

I totally understand. I too look back and I think I should have done this, or I shouldn’t have done that. My French lop, Wolf, hated medication. Even at his weakest point when he weighed a tiny 3.8kg (he was usually 5kg), he was still a large and strong rabbit and impossible to restrain. I used to get so frustrated with him when he wouldn’t tak…[Read more]

My rabbit passed away during Christmas week of 2022 but I haven’t been able to get over it at all still, I think about him and how I should have done better. I wasn’t ready to let go of him at all, he was all I had during a dark period of my life and the only thing getting me to leave my bed. I sometimes feel like he was taking care of me.
I feel…[Read more]

Oh my god Em, I cried, and cried really hard when I read your thread. And I’m truly very sorry for what you’ve been through. Trust me, I feel you.
You even expressed a feeling that I never thought of, yes, this is it, I feel my precious girl was robbed.
It is extremely painful to think about “if only I had”. I feel it’s unfair because we could…[Read more]

First off, my deepest condolences – I know how it feels, and I honestly have no answers for you, so thought I would share my boys story as it is somewhat similar to yours though not as extreme to show you are not alone, but you have to try and not blame yourself – you trusted a medical professional, so it is not your fault though I understand it…[Read more]

I recently got 2 female rabbits. They were born 2 days apart, but the breeder said they were playmates and they grew up together. The first day we had them they were fine. They ate, drank, slept, and binkyed together. But today I noticed that the younger rabbit (cider) is scared of the bigger one (spice). She stays in the litter box, and only…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic rabbit not as interested in pellets anymore? in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 6 months ago
I agree it could be food security setting in and just realizing that grazing is a fine option as opposed to scarfing it down! It’s also a nice thing for peace of mind in a way, as it cuts down on any choking risk if pellet eating is a more… calm time, haha.
