Bam replied to the topic What type of bed? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago

I have an IKEA bed for my bun. I put a piece of vet bed on it instead of the little blanket and comforter it came with.

The problem with beds for bunnies is that the bun pees in or chews it, or both. Some buns can have a bed when they are a little older, some buns can never have a bed without ruining it completely. In nature, rabbits dont line…[Read more]

Thanks! I will try a high sided litterbox  today and put some hay in there…fingers crossed they might go in there 🤞🤞

I haven’t formally introduced her yet, but we adopted Myra about 3 months ago. She is just starting to seem like she enjoys pets. 🙂 I’ll have to make a post about her soon.

But I’ve noticed she has very ticklish ears! At least I think that’s what’s going on? She likes nose rubs, but she will flinch if I touch her cheeks too quickly (slow is…[Read more]

I see! The dividing might have confused them a bit. Yes I think 3 months is still pretty new.

I won’t repeat my suggestions above as they still apply but let us know if those things help. 🙂

Last thought, what are you using to clean up the pee? Vinegar can be good, but I had one bun that kept remarking carpet that I cleaned with vinegar. I…[Read more]

Agree with LBJ10, there is a range of green-feeding that works for different bunnies. I like to feed greens for variety, enrichment, and hydration. Plus the bunnies just love them so much. 🙂 I don’t really trust any pet food company (even the good ones) to be able to 100% address every single nutrition requirement animals have (like, what is the…[Read more]

I would keep an eye out, but “honking” can sometimes be a sign of annoyance. She could just be a little frustrated in her new home, but I can’t hear for myself so I can’t be positive.

My family has a hunch that that could be the cause! She gained a lot of weight pretty quickly. I guess we will just have to wait and see!

My little bun IS litter trained and thinks any box with any material inside is a litter box. I want to buy him a nice bed to lay in but I’m worried he’ll soil it. What kinds of bed do you like for your bunnies?

LBJ10 replied to the topic Sherwood Pet Health recommends no greens – thoughts? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago

Sherwood pellets contain both timothy hay and alfalfa. The company’s logic behind their diet recommendations can be found on their website: http://sherwoodpethealth.com/the-science/

Their approach is simply a different way of achieving the same goal all bunny-owners (should) have – increase hay consumption. There is certainly nothing wrong with…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Rabbit mites- HELP! in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago

I wouldn’t use any kind of oil. Certain oils aren’t good for them if they lick it off. It doesn’t get rid of a mite infestation, it just makes it look a little better temporarily… except bunny’s fur is all greasy. Then the mites return once you stop putting the oil on. It’s better to treat with Revolution or Advantage and then you’re done with…[Read more]

Glad to hear it! Given his age and the absence of other symptoms, I’m going to say it was likely stress-induced. Nothing to worry about, especially if you’ve observed him eating them since the incident.

I’m still going with UK mini lop because that is what a lion lop is supposed to be. Based on his weight and his appearance (face shape, etc.), I’m going to say false dwarf.

Dwarf lops and Mini lops are very similar in appearance, size being the only real difference between the two. Dwarf lops are the larger of the two and may weigh as much as 2.5 kg. The smaller Mini lop has a maximum weight of 1.6 kg. Both varieties have a dense and soft coat and drooping ears.

@Wick haha yes for sure! It’s hard not to be vigilant when we are all in one room! I hear everything, for better or worse. 🙄

The only thing I don’t like so far is they are less excited to come out and play in the morning (because they’ve already been out), so I feel like I’ve actually been interacting with them less. Usually mornings I sit…[Read more]

That’s weird, most rabbits would do the opposite 😀  I guess it’s because she’s used to eating Timothy pellets. She’ll probably come around before long.

    Hey everyone!

I got my second bunny today, and she is eating, pooping, peeing, drinking water, all the good things. But I’ve noticed some odd behaviour that I want to ask about.

I picked her up at one point and she made some weird kind of honking sounds while breathing? I put her down instantly and they went away. She’s been sneezing a lit…[Read more]

Okay thank you so much! I will keep doing that, the only issue I seem to be having is that she picks around the alfalfa pellets and just eats the Timothy. Like… Absolutely no interest 😬
