The IKEA dollbed is made of pine. Dried pine wood is safe for buns, because they don’t eat massive amounts of it in one go. (It’s pine shavings you should avoid using with buns).

That all sounds very normal and not too crazy, I think you have a good plan to go slowly with pre-bonding (but you could prob start swapping cages/boxes sooner if you want. Thank you. It’s been difficult and shocking. We were friends for nearly 20 years and it hasn’t quite set in that I’ll never see or hear her again.

I have almost always had rabbits that eat a ton of hay. It’s what you strive for. Joey eats around 3-5lbs every week. I have to actually keep a large box in her enclosure to keep up with how much hay she eats.

If the vet cannot find anything physically wrong, then I’m going to go with Wick on this. The presence of another bunny can cause behavioral changes, even if this “intruder” is not in the same area. And yes, this can even include refusing treats IF said bunny is determined to be “annoyed”.

I’ve seen pictures all over of bunnies in that one doll bed from IKEA. Is the wood safe for them to chew, if it is, I think it would be great for my bun because it functions as a chew toy and a comfy spot.

ok, yes, he was neutered while in the shelter when he was young, so he has been to the vet, but it was several months ago. If he doesn’t present any health concerns anytime soon, I’ll most likely just take him after he hits about one year.
