Louiethebunny replied to the topic Windowsill run in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
Louie’s xpen is placed right next to the windowsill, and is taller in height, so most of the ledge is covered and he can’t fall, in the one spot where he could potentially fall, I placed a cardboard hidey house he likes to hop on so if he needs to hop down the box is there for him. On the side he hops on from there is his box of hay, so he can…[Read more]

Louiethebunny replied to the topic grooming? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
Louie has a small bit of baby fluff growing out on his head, and when I hand-pulled it little baby fur tufts came off, and his “adult” coat is coming in. I think I will purchase a Hairbuster because even though his fur is pretty solid, I’m sure there will be times when he’s shedding that I’ll need a good tool.

I think flea combs aren’t really designed to remove hair, and would prob be tough to use in general for regular grooming. Dif buns coats respond differently to different types of combs. The furbuster has worked well on some of my rabbits though. I use it in combo with a bristle brush. Rubber type ones (kong makes one called the groom zoom that…[Read more]

What a great conversation! Unfortunately, we will be disabling the Friend feature; however, you are always free to start a private message conversation between you two through the website’s messaging system.
It sounds like you’re on the right track. I will add that different rabbits have different levels of proficiency… as in, some are just…[Read more]

Combs have varying success, and there are times (though sparse in my experience, haha), where a rabbit’s coat is pretty solid at the time, so no fur is really going to come off. I’ve always had the most success with gently pulling out tuffs that have released. See if you can gently tease some tuffs out in some areas. If not, he’s likely not…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Bunny eye problem in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
I’m sorry no one responded to you. How is your rabbit now? That is concerning and is most likely not purely stress-related. It sounds like some sort of eye-related infection or cranial condition impacting the eyes.
Also, is the vet you are taking the rabbit to a dog/cat vet?

Wick & Fable replied to the topic New Bunny Owner LOTS of questions! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
He is on the youngest side of age, in terms of when a rabbit can be weaned and separated from the mother, so it’s great that you’re being considerate for what may be the least stressful. I would add to educate those assigned for check-ins about concerning health signs, what measures to take, and where to take him if something were to happen.
He…[Read more]

To piggy-back off Bam, the idea of attaching toys to the bars can be engaging for a lot of rabbits. Personally, both of mine are fans of willow wood toys. I am also a fan of their smell too, which is a plus.

My Fable’s favorite spot to lounge is one of our low window sills and the area right below it. She does not zoomy on it though.
I think, just like any other area of your house, it is up to you to survey that area and assess if it’s rabbit safe. Is the ledge high enough that if a fall were to happen, it would be dangerous? For my Fable, the ledge…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Matted dirty chin? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
Looks like staining from juicy veggies to me? Bun Jovi has a bit of a permanently stained chin from veggies, and Bertha had a part of her dewlap that was just always green lol. But that does seem like an abnormal amount of matting and wetness, so I agree with Wick that could be something dental. Does it ever dry?

Love the variety of buns, so cute all of them! Love that it sounds like a lot of them are rescues. My bun is named Dorian, and is also a rescue. He’s about 1 year old and I have had him for roughly 6 months now. He’s my first bun, so we are still figuring out things! He pretty relaxed snuggly little guy, but with serious opinions and currently we…[Read more]

Plywood is often used to build rabbit hitches from, but it has glue on it, so for gnawing-purposes, solid wood would be better. There are many types of wood that are suitable. Applewood as Louiethebunny mentions, is excellent, but birch or rowan, linden, aspen, maple or ash are good choices. Rabbits tend to like chew toys that are attached to t…[Read more]

Normally I don’t give her greens. Very rarely because she gets gas easily. During the recovery phase i gave her one piece of bok choy, and i think that gave her gas and undo the progress.
I think she is back to normal now! Chilling in my room at the moment like she used to. Her belly feels very full compared to weeks ago, i hope its just her…[Read more]

He’s only been around me and my family, I assume he’s just consuming a lot of hay, and as long as he’s healthy I’ll just change the litter box more often, no problem!
