UPDATE: The vet just called to say Hunny has finished her procedure. She is not pooping or eating yet (vet offered Hunny grass and mango, neither of which she has ever had before), but she is grooming herself and trying to get used to her level teeth. Vet and I are hoping this fixed things, but vet says it’s possible there’s an issue we can’t see…[Read more]

    Hey baby girl,

My sweet little angel, my daughter. I love you dearly, you know? I hope you do. Remember when you could fit in my hands? Your favorite treat, bananas, and how you were always such a sassy girl, the total queen of our home with even a proper castle too?

Honey, I will miss you in ways you can’t imagine and think of you every single…[Read more]

I’ve had my rabbit for nearly a month now and I know rabbits don’t love being held, but how could I make my bun comfier with me holding him? Some sources say continue piling them up so they are used to it, while others say wait until the trust and love you and they won’t mind being picked up.

Wick (M) and Fable (F). What a duo. My question is: What are some reactions to the idea of me being more involved and actually a participant in bonding sessions in semi-neutral territory? My read of the situation is that once we are in a semi-neutral territory, Wick gets very scared/defensive about the space. If I am there and pet him though, he…[Read more]

    That sounds like good progress!

In my experience when things improve after 24 hours marathoning you are on the right track. 🙂

Gotcha. Yes hopefully a slow and steady approach of building trust and just giving them more time together will help them get there!

DanaNM replied to the topic Bonding 2 (spayed) female rabbits: mounting in the forum BONDING 6 years, 4 months ago

If Moaxie doesn’t mind the humping, then it’s fine! It will likely subside over time as well. Is the nipping associated with the mounting? Bunnies will often nip before they mount. As long as it’s not hard (no fur being pulled) and Moaxie isn’t bothered by it, it’s another thing to just monitor. Bunnies do nip lightly to communicate.

    Sounds like…[Read more]

Glad she went in for a trim! The loud clicking you hear is a symptom of pain (a different type of tooth grinding). Once her teeth are done just keep offering her lots of wet fresh greens to keep her hydrated and keep things moving, and give critical care if she’s not eating on her own! Dental and GI problems often go hand in hand (there is a…[Read more]

UPDATE: Hunny went back to the vet today. Her teeth were examined more thoroughly, and the vet decided as a start her lower molars need to be trimmed. Hunny should be undergoing the procedure as I type this. Please pray for her! Hopefully this fixes the problem…

Louiethebunny replied to the topic how did you convince your parents to get a bun? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago

I agree @wilburbunny, my dad was worried it was just a “project” I wanted because we are on lockdown. For my mom, I showed her lots of bunnies every day and she slowly fell in love, and even though she says she doesn’t want to take care of my Louie, every day she comes downstairs to visit and play with him.

The fur is thinning specially in the back. He doesn’t have bald patches, but the hair does not seem to be growing back at all.

I asked the technician who did the ultrasound and he said it is difficult to check the testicles, I might ask the veterinarian on our next appointment about that.

I will definitely mention about Addison’s and Cushings,…[Read more]

Good morning! When I went to check in on OB her cage is a mess, but she looks happy and is gathering materials for her ‘nest’ do I clean her cage? Or would that stress her out?

    Thank you!
