It sounds like she likes you, but it can take some bunnies quite a while to become trusting. Some never fully do. But how I bonded with my rabbits was by sitting on the floor with them and ignoring them. I would just go about my business, playing a phone game or reading a book or something near them and pretending they weren’t there. Eventually…[Read more]

Thanks for mentioning the appetite thing, I don’t think I’ve seen him eat much hay today so I’ll accommodate for that. I will continue the meloxicam too. Thank you both. 🙂 I caught him doing a couple binkies today, actual in the air binkies and not just head binkies, which he hasn’t done in a while. Hopes are still high this will help him.

I have my Netherland Dwarf (7month female) for a little over a month now. She sleeps on the bed with me. I’m not worried about crushing her because I have a huge bed and I’m not one to move around in my sleep. I thought the close contact would get her more comfortable with me. Sometimes I lure her to put her paws on my thighs and then I give her…[Read more]

Hello Em. Thanks for the comments again. That’s worrying but possibly helpful.
One of them had a nasal swab with the aim of looking for pasteurella but came back negative. Not sure if that would have shown other infections if there was anything to find. I’ll check with the vet tomorrow.
It gives me some more talking points for the vet though so…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Bonding to females / Adding two males? in the forum BONDING 2 years, 6 months ago
I tried bonding a pair of females that I had trouble with with various combos of males over several years and had no better luck. If you have the space, it would likely be easiest to pair each female (assuming all are spayed and neutered?) with a male and keeping two pairs separately (this is what I ended up doing).

Thank you for the update! I’m glad you were able to get a diagnosis, albeit a lot later than it should have been.
I think it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to continue with pain relief. Otherwise, as long as the bacteria is sensitive to the Bactrim, it should take care of the infection.

I’m glad you’ve got a better vet now and that he’s been diagnosed so you can treat the UTI! Hopefully he’ll feel a lot better soon.
I dont know if there’s anything else you could do besides the bactrim. Make sure he stays hydrated, of course, f ex by serving him his daily greens wet. Bactrim can lower a bun’s appetite, so keep an eye on that of course.

Small update: I have taken Fresno to yet another different vet, this is the third one I am trying, and so far she seems like the best out of them all. He has now confirmed to have a UTI… you know, something I tested for months ago because I suspected he had one but the vet I was going to at the time said everything looked fine. Then the second…[Read more]

I only suggest scans as I’ve been in the same boat and wished I went for scans sooner. One of my guys ended up aspirating the pus into his lungs and it caused devastating pneumonia.
due to the fact your buns have had nasal surgery before, my concern is that their noses are simply too blocked up with pus for antibiotics to work properly. My two a…[Read more]

Thanks again for the comments. Scans and x-rays feel like a big step, financially as well as in terms of having to knock them out.
It feels like it should be easier than this to treat what seems to be some kind of blocked nose.
The lack of appetite was there already although possibly the medicine hasn’t helped.
People have mentioned sometimes…[Read more]
