Thanks everyone. She was really the best girl anyone could have ever asked for.

It was 96 yesterday here in northern Utah; 75 today with thunderstorms; high of 56 tomorrow! Phoebe shot off from her litter box into her couch cave once or twice early this morning when the winds got super strong and startled her.

I’m sorry you are dealing with this. Rabbits can recover from stasis, my rabbit did. It was a long and slow recovery though. For a while he was in critical condition, and he had to have motility drugs (metoclopramide and ranitidine) for a month, plus Metacam. He also got an antibiotic for 2 weeks. The underlying cause for his stasis was bad teeth…[Read more]

I love that it isn’t dark at 4 pm here anymore, but since the sun wakes up earlier, Louie wakes up with the sun to get me up in the morning.

I made a post in the habitat forum about potentially buying a larger cage and moving my two bunnies in with each other, but was advised they shouldn’t live together unless completely bonded. Honestly I’m not sure how bonded is completely so I hope I can learn that here?

Thank you, Hazel. Vet tech just called. Said Hunny is feisty (in line with her normal personality) but not pooping (they’re worried more about that than not eating). They have ruled out all dental problems and found no significant blockages in her stomach or intestine. They are giving her motility meds twice a day orally starting today. She likely…[Read more]

    What a little stinker!

You could build a top out of NIC grids. It won’t be particularly pretty either, but it would be a safer/more functional option than the fitted sheet. I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I’m sorry, I know this is vey difficult to deal with. 🙁  I hope you hear from the vet soon. It would be nice if you could go visit her, but I know that’s not an option right now. Thanks for keeping us posted. Sending lots of healing vibes for your little girl.

I agree, 4 x 2 is too small even for a “regular” sized rabbit. With the recommended minimum cage size of 12 x 12, they should have at least 4-6 hours of play time out of the cage per day, that again is only the recommended minimum.

And yes, please consider spaying her. At her age she probably already has abnormalities in her reproductive organs,…[Read more]

From two day ago she suddenly became very active. She’s been showing some behaviors that she had never done before: circling around me, jumping up and down, following me everywhere, showing up right at my call (she used to ignore me when I call her), asking for attention (last night when I was sitting in the chair staring at my phone, she just ran…[Read more]

1.) Just got back from the bonding forum, I hope my post there can tell me if my bunnz are completely bonded or not!

2.) I acknowledge that the cages are really not large enough to home the rabbits, but for the most part they free roam my bunny proofed art room unless I’m sleeping or at work.  I just wasn’t sure if they would be happier…[Read more]

    Two things here:

    1. Your rabbits should not live together if they are not completely bonded. There is a bonding template you can fill out in the “bonding” forum.
    2. Cages are generally much too small for rabbits, especially putting two in one. Each rabbit should generally have about 12 sq feet of living space, so an xpen may work out better, and…

Two of my rabbits get along very well. They both have separate cages but live in the same room and get a very large amount of Out-time which they tend to spend together peacefully.  I’ve been wondering lately if maybe they would be happier living in the same cage?  But I’m not sure…

It’s not like they don’t see each other often, and they get o…[Read more]
