I will highlight Dana’s last point: Yes, completely healthy rabbits can experience stasis for reasons the owner may never be able to figure out. The best thing to do is exactly what you’re doing, which is being vigilant in observation and being active in getting your rabbit treatment.

Bonded pairs do live together 24/7. So eventually once you deem them bonded, rather than buying a fancy double stacked cage, I recommend building a cube condo! You get a lot more space for them for a lot less money.

I’m very sorry this happened to you and your bun. Iremember one case here with an elderly bun who broke her femur. They were about to have it pinned, but the bone started healing on it’s own, so they never needed the surgery. I cant say what that break looked like, though.
