Lemony replied to the topic Does anyone have interlocking floor mats for their buns living space? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 6 years, 3 months ago
Oh not a problem! and yes I have, I thought foam tiles were not the best for my rabbits since one of mine is a chewer and would probably at some point soon chew it up, so I went with some tougher rubber utility tiles. I laid a couple down for the buns to walk on first to make sure they have traction, gave them some blankets in there too. There was…[Read more]

At this point I’ve had 3 boys and 2 girls. All had pretty different personalities! Who knows what gendered personality traits I subconsciously projected on to them, but it seems like my females have been very gentle, loving, but perhaps less needy than the boys when it comes to begging for attention. Very much the queen of the castle. Bertha was…[Read more]

Yep, hormones are to blame! Are you planning to get her spayed?

Sounds like she is coming along. Do be gentle and careful with tummy rubs and her spay…. the normal area for tummy rubs might be painful for her, and she is still healing internally.

I agree with Dana. Hormones make things unpredictable and will continue to do so. While I know there are cases you can read about of non-fixed pairs working, there needs to be adaptation based on the rabbits in each pair. In this pair, it looks like the unfixed status of one may be creating instability, so spaying her may be the best solution.…[Read more]

You hit the problem in your first sentence, they should both be spayed in order for the bond to be stable. The hormonal fluctuations can make them territorial and cause fighting. For now you should separate (but keep them side by side) and get Macy spayed. It is also important to spay to prevent reproductive cancers, so it will be good for Macy in…[Read more]

It sounds like Pumpkin hasn’t really agreed with sharing a space with Hero if there is an insistence on the fur pulling during those active early morning periods. It actually sounds very much like the dynamic between my two rabbits that are currently being bonded.
What sort of steps did you go through in terms of introducing them and allowing t…[Read more]

hmmm, it doesn’t sound like they are fully bonded to me, that amount of fur pulling isn’t normal in a bonded pair.
What did you do to bond them? Are both spayed/neutered? There is a “bonding template” pinned in the bonding section. If you paste into your reply filled out it would be super helpful!

Hi
I have a pair of buns. Both are females (mochi and Macy)
Mochi is spayed and Macy is not.
Both are bonded but apparently Mochi like to chase on Macy and start her fur pulling on Macy.Macy is being very submissive and doesn’t attack back. But Mochi just doesn’t give in and keeps chasing and being aggressive on Macy. They can be best frie…[Read more]

As stated, males and females can display the same hormonal behaviors. This includes humping! The only exception I can think of is false pregnancies, which is female exclusive, haha.

Yes it’s almost always in the early morning, and we arw usually asleep. After I feed them it’s normally back to friendship. Pumpkin has little bald patches from fur pulling… No blood thankfully

Yes, both males and females will do this if they’re not fixed.

My female rabbit is aggressively honking and circling for two days now. Like non stop she can’t be alone for a second she needs to be right next to me. She does figure 8s around my feet and even circles and honks me when I try to pet her on the floor. I know she doesn’t want food because she literally hopped away from parsley to be closer to me. I…[Read more]

I have only had boy rabbits. I can assure you they have all been very cuddly, although it took quite a while for one of them. Since he was a fully adult rabbit that had been abandoned outside, I suspect he was perhaps not very used to cuddling before he came to me.
I do think personality matter more than sex or breed when it comes to rabbits.…[Read more]

@LBJ10 – We were given very specific instructions to stop giving Hunny Panacur.
@Hazel – I have not noticed the issues you described. I worry about them as far as her mouth goes, but that’s it.
Hunny apparently ate more pellets in the night (can’t tell how many because my father replaced them before I woke up), and she ate a piece of cilantro stalk.

You might be able to make broad generalizations about females being more dominant, but when it comes down to an individual rabbit, sex will not tell you anything. Sex nor breed will be informative when it comes down to an individual rabbit.
