Now I’m curious how often most people change it lol. Every day seems so tedious and that’s a looot of litter to go through.

So! I’m back with another question. He peed on his bed and it looks really thick. Is this anything to be concerned about? I know it can be from excess calcium but I’m not sure why that would happen. Maybe from the increas…[Read more]

What Bam said. If you get him neutered at three months he could still have viable sperm for another month, so they will have to be separated no matter what. Even if he couldn’t get her pregnant after the neuter, they should still be separated because she will be hitting puberty at that point as well which will likely result in them fighting. Since…[Read more]

Update: So, Fable is a 100% no-go on being in a half-sized pen in the living space during the day. She knows what room she’s in and she wants out. So the negotiation is: free-roam for both of them all day and overnight in the half-sized pen. They have overnight for the foreseeable future to work out close-quarters dynamics, and then all day to…[Read more]

I honestly still have no idea how people can NOT do a litterbox change at least daily, haha, so it sounds normal to me.

Lindsey – What did you switch from and what made ya decide to? I like that the organic bounty has omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. But dang it only comes in 3 pound bags. Lucky you don’t feed very much of it! 😛

    6/24 updates: good news!

Ollie’s ears are looking MUCH better, there is hardly any flakiness and he doesn’t seem to be irritated by them/itching more than normal at all. I am so happy also as the vet called and said the most recent fungal culture came back negative for ringworm, yay for him! I’m going to finish out the round of the oral…[Read more]

I’m glad that you’ve found a good deal on the pellets your rabbits like! I feed my two buns the Oxbow Organic Bounty Adult pellets, we just switched not too long ago – they love them! I don’t give them many, just sprinkle them about in their ex-pens before I go to bed for a treat and some enrichment. I’m curious to see what other BB members will…[Read more]

They haven’t had the chance to make a mess on it yet, so we’ll have to see. I actually chose them over those speckled ones that are used for gym floors because, we did a trial of both and the gym ones just attracted and held onto so much fur so quickly because of the sticky material.

Thank you for the advice! I did the skin tent test on her, and she snapped back quickly, but she still isn’t drinking water, and now she isn’t eating her hay! She will eat her pellets just fine, but she hasn’t been going to the bathroom or eating and drinking. I’m going to call the vet today.

    Once again, thank you!

I just found out that Oxbow now offers a 25 pound bag of their garden select pellets and I’m ecstatic! This bad boy will last forever – no more having to get a bunch of 4 pound bags from the store. I love that they don’t have any soy fillers, molasses, or alfalfa in them, they’re made of 3 different kinds of hay, and they have some herbs in them…[Read more]

Ohh that’s really good to know! I guess I’ll just check that they’re dead first and comb him in his area then switch the blanket.
In other news, I’ve noticed he pees outside of his litter box when it gets too soiled for his liking… which is after like one day. 🙄 He’s already getting a taste for the spoiled life.

I’ll definitely update as h…[Read more]

Wow! He will become a big boy!

From what I can find, Advantage II kills fleas of all life stages, ie eggs, larvae and mature fleas (unsure if there’s a nymph stage). That would mean that whatever you brush off of him once treatment has taken effect, will be dead/non-viable.

I hope you’ll keep updating! It’d be wonderful to get to see him blossom…[Read more]

Interesting. It does seem a bit that way – but mostly because they prefer to use just the one outside tray instead of the inside one. We can try some new configurations and see if that helps perhaps.

I have found that two litterboxes sometimes makes things tense between the two rabbits I’m bonding. The dominant one will herd the other to stay and use just one of them and the dominant one has more “claim” to another. Is that something you have observed at all?

He had his vet appointment yesterday and Jerseygirl was right – they do think someone previously shaved him. They also think he’s younger than a year old, and he weighs almost 6 pounds! He’s gonna be a hefty boy when he fills out and grows his hair back. I was given Ivermectin for mites in his ears and was told to just give him Advantage. Now it’…[Read more]

It is generally believed to be safe to house young rabbits together until week 12. Of course keep an eye and separate if you see signs of aggression! Also check often for testicles- rabbits can pull them in so they dont show.

Girl rabbits can potentially become pregnant as early as at age 12 weeks,  but it varies between breeds. Small breeds…[Read more]
