Oh I know he’s not neutered, I’m just wondering why he doesn’t display the typical crazy hormonal bunny mannerisms that they tend to have when unfixed. 🤔

If he is in fact a boy it should be pretty simple to see if he’s neutered, just pick him up and look! Assuming he’s not a super baby (which I don’t think he is)?

Actually, I’m not sure if she said she has E. Cuniculi but that she has the white in her eye.

Today was Bernards first check up at the vet since we’ve had her for a month or so now and they said she has E. Cuniculi in her eye. All they said was to keep an eye on it and bring her back later. I looked it up and it seems serious. She said she thinks it’s dead so does that mean I don’t have to worry about it? She said she’s healthy otherwi…[Read more]

Thank you, Bam!
OB does have a soggy butt, is that a health issue? Silver will sometimes have pee smudges on her face (I think that is because she eats her poop out of the litter box lol) but they do gradually go away. But, after their spay, I was planning on rotating their pens, so that they could get used to each other’s smells, will they…[Read more]

So after seeing a bunch of threads made here about hormonal buns being naughty in various ways and displaying typical hormonal behavior, I’m starting to wonder why Fresno doesn’t do any of these things. He acts like he’s neutered – doesn’t honk, circle feet, nip, grunt, act all needy for constant attention (Nora did this before she was spayed…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁
I’ve lost two of my beloved bunnies in visible pain in front of my eyes, and it is so so traumatic. When it is their time they really do tend to just crash, and it happens so fast, you really shouldn’t beat yourself up. It is clear you did everything you could for him, and I think all of us who care so much for our…[Read more]

Bernard2020 replied to the topic Best way to rehome a rabbit? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 3 months ago
I’ve already emailed all the shelters near me and they are all full 🙁 My cat is a very good hunter. He brings home dead animals all the time. When Bernard was living under my shed my cat constantly chased him so now Bernard is terrified of him. I think I’d be too nervous to try to get them to get along.

That’s so interesting! I agree with Hazel, it could either be a “you don’t scare me”, and/or a “I’m not a threat so chill out, man” ?

There are many many different strategies, so what you read does work for some bunnies! Sometimes buns are good with minimal interference, but for less experienced bonders it can be hard to know when to step in. I learned this petting technique from the lead at the rescue in my town (who has several decades of experience…), and used it with…[Read more]

Hi @Bernard2020
I think it would be ideal if you were able to spay her and make sure she is healthy first. I also think it’s common for people to ask for a rehoming fee that at least partially covers the cost of the spay, which avoids someone taking her for snake food 🙁 . You might look into if there are any rescues in your area that could take…[Read more]

Hi! We unfortunately have to find a home for Bernard. She is the rabbit someone abandoned in our backyard and we love her so much but we have a cat so we can’t keep her. We just took her to the vet and it’s a girl but she’s not spayed. She also has some sort of parasite in her eye.
How can we find a good home for her? We love her so much so we wa…[Read more] -

A spay will most likely help a lot. Keep in mind it can be a while after the spay until the hormones die down and the rabbits “reconnect with their true selves”. Just now they seem to be in a hormonal frenzy. This can actually temporarily get worse right after the spay, when the production of sex-hormones is abruptly shut down, but the body…[Read more]

Ahhhh I see. I read somewhere that interference should be kept at a minimum so I was going along with that but it obviously is not working out for anyone. Will do! I didn’t really have to do much when it came to Lilly and Bunny (they were a love at first sight kind of situation) so this is all pretty new to me. Thank you!!

It’s frustrating, but remember that chewing is a natural, necessary behavior rabbits need to engage in to ensure they are healthy. When a rabbit owner finds themselves with a heavy chewer (which is many, haha) and one who nips harder and more frequently than we’d like, a lot of patience and understanding is required to guide the rabbit towards w…[Read more]

Hi, so my rabbits are getting spayed in little less than a week, and they are now doing pee wars. OB and Silver won’t let me in their cage, and are very aggressive, by launching attacks at me 😯 and they have been peeing all over their cages. How do I make it end? When they were having their bonding time the other day, Silver ran around the…[Read more]

Dana – I totally forgot they were trying to get people to free-feed the alfalfa pellets. That sounds like a potential nightmare to their health for sure. I dunno, something about that company skeeves me out a little. It was nice of your husband to think about your bunnies during quarantine though lol!
