My phone doesn’t even have a “moisture warning” feature. 😆 It’s from 2016, I guess that makes it “old”. I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. I’ll give it a try on Tuesday.

Yeah… at that age odds are she’s pregnant.

It doesn’t look like a cataract to me. It’s like a very small unsymmetrical blob. It’s not yellow either. The Dr. said the eye with it was more sensitive to light when she was looking at her. But I’m glad to hear it’s treatable. I was getting really worried after reading too much online.

There have been no major changes the past couple days. Hunny spends her time sleeping in her tube, cuddling with us, et cetera. She takes small sips of water when we offer it to her, but otherwise, the only eating she does apart from Critical Care is the occasional few bites of squashed pellets. Our girl barely uses her teeth for anything anymore;…[Read more]

UPDATE: Einstein was just neutered today, and everything went smoothly! He even ate while on the car ride home (and he usually hates doing anything in a car lol). Feeding him his medication is a bit rough, and he is licking excessively at his surgical site, but I can afford to pull a few all nighters for him. I tried putting a cone on him but he…[Read more]

My moisture warning comes on all the time. I guess I shouldn’t put my phone in my pocket when it’s raining. I remember the old smart phones that were pretty much ruined if they got wet. My husband managed to go into the ocean with his phone in his pocket. The phone would overheat and you could no longer charge the battery long after everything was…[Read more]

Yes, if owners can make it past the hormonal phase, an unneutered male can mellow out with time. Most owners, however, never make it that far! LOL If honking, circling and humping don’t do it, the spraying does.

EC doesn’t truly go away, but it does go into remission. Is the white spot a cataract? Or like a yellow-white blob? EC causes cataracts. However, it can also cause uveitis in younger rabbits (less than 2 years). Uveitis can be caused by other things as well (bacteria, etc.).
For cataracts, there isn’t much that can be done. The damage is done. If…[Read more]

Gotcha! Might be good to call and chat with the vet to get a bit more info? I think if you shared that you learned some more about EC and had some questions it might clarify things for you.

This was my first time there so I’m not sure if they’re good or not. The reason I picked them was because they were on the rabbit savy vet list on the House Rabbit Society website.

Yes, pregnancy sounds likely if both are 6 months old.

How rabbit savvy is your vet?
I trust my vet 100%, so if they said it was OK to just monitor, I wouldn’t worry. But if the vet is not that rabbit savvy (maybe they only occasionally see rabbits), I would probably get a second opinion. I do appreciate when vets don’t over-treat or over-test, because that can be a problem with some vets.
That…[Read more]

Females can be impregnated as soon as 12 weeks old, so it is important to take appropriate cautions since she is capable of breeding at this point.

Yes, his testicles were visible.
My bunnies are 6 months old, so I’m not sure if my female bunny can go through pregnancy quite yet. I was  planning on having my rabbits fixed, however because of covid-19 my vet is not performing the procedure during this time. I do plan to have both bunnies fixed when possible. I have scheduled an appointment…[Read more]

After reading that it seems more serious than what my vet said. She seemed to not be concerned about it, she just said to come back later. Should I just wait to see if she develops more symptoms? What would you do if it was your rabbit?

Here’s some background on EC:
http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Neurology/cuniculi/pyrimethamine.htm
http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Neurology/Signs/Cuniculi_signs.html
It’s a protozoan parasite that can cause a range of symptoms, and it is suspected to the common that rabbits can carry it and not show symptoms.
EC tests are pretty unreliable, but…[Read more]
