Give it as much freedom as possible. Rabbits need to have the space to run, jump and play. If you must cage the rabbit, make the cage as large as possible and plan for as much time out as you can allow. As long as the rabbit has something hard to chew on to keep its teeth from overgrowth, and anything it can nudge, toss or dig at is desirable.

You do seem well prepared! Simethicone baby gas drops is good to have in the bunny first aid kit in case of minor tummy upset. But that’s a minor thing, it seems you’ve been very thorough in your planning. I hope you’ll have a wonderful weekend!

I would definitely place some fun hidey-houses around. Ramps to run up and down might be fun too! I also recommend tunnels, and lots and lots of toys.

Maybe he’s a bit mad at you for leaving more often! Sounds like a joke, but my first bun would go on a hunger strike every time I left for a longer time than he was used to, and nearly made himself sick a few times because of it. You seem pretty prepared, I’m not sure if you have any, but it’s probably worth picking up some Critical Care. It’s a good way to get nutrients into rabbits who are to stressed out to eat.

I was thinking it might be the hay batch, but all his hay comes from the same 25 lb box I’ve been using for the past 2 months. I plan to reduce his pellets this week to see if there’s a change. I am nervous about them chasing in such a confined space unsupervised (especially if you have learned to tune out chasing etc.), if a fight breaks out they won’t have much space to get away from each other. Can you attach a pen to give a bit more space? Or sleep close enough to keep an eye on them?
