Asriel does this to me literally every single night. It’s honestly just a bad habit that I’ve come to accept 😂 he’s more inclined for petting at bedtime and during the night, so frequently I’ll get a visitor at 3am begging for snoot rubs. He’ll wake me up by digging at me and nipping until I pet him. It’s cute in an annoying way for sure.

It’s really good you are doing this thinking now to prepare! That set-up sounds like it would work out. 🙂  Then all you’d need is a second x-pen or some cube grids to create that space buffer to prevent nipping through the x-pen bars.

Thanks for the reply. He has always seemed to favor her a bit, but nothing to this extent. I guess he could be reacting to her hormones. Be prepared for both rabbits to mark all over the place when the new rabbit comes home. This doesn’t always happen, but it’s common for there to be “poop and pee wars” where they mark along boundaries etc. Getting a rabbit that’s already castrated is def a good move!

I think it took about two weeks to get the results. My vet suspected EC right away, so we tested immediately and he was given antibiotics while we waited for the results, just in case that cleared it up. The first bunch of flare ups he was given Oxibendazole, but more recently he’s been on Panacur.

The spay can certainly help settle these behaviours, absolutely. But keep in mind, it doesn’t always happen right away, and some may pop up again from time to time (like digging), although not as persistent.

Don’t worry, destructo bunny definitely comes out during bunny puberty. For now, you might just have to up the bunny proofing game, like putting blankets over the couch to prevent digging, and block off areas where shes destructive. After the spay her hormonal behavior will definitely calm down.

It certainly could be residual hormones! Some rabbit owners report an increase in hormonal behaviours for a short time post-neuter. So hang in there, it should soon become better.
