In my only (ongoing) bonding experience, the litterbox brought in challenges and I ended up removing it until I felt more comfortable with them in the current context. Even if it’s a completely neutral box, it invites being claimed as a space, and that may bring about defensiveness and aggression.

Things do settle down as we’re in there longer. Usually she’ll nip a lot at the beginning and eventually it seems like she just gets tired and starts ignoring him which is why I wanted to try it. Do things tend to settle down as time goes on in the 2 hour sessions? If so then I think it’s fine to go for it, as it might be good for them to work past the nippy phase.

2 weeks isn’t that much time after being neutered. It’s honestly a matter of patience for the first 1-2 months after they are neutered. Hormones can still be all over the place for a bit.

what have you done to try to train him? What’s his litter box setup?

In my experience most bonds take 2 weeks minimum (and that’s after a settling in period and a couple weeks of pre-bonding). I’ve had several bonds take 3-4 months (!) and end with a very tightly bonded pair. So just keep at it and be patient. 🙂

Low voltage cords like mouse cords and phone cords are highly unlikely to hurt the bun if chewed. The only victims are the poor cords. Some you can fix yourself, you need a sharp knife and electric tape. It’s a bit annoying that you can’t readily buy protective cord covers for thin cords. His xpen door flings freely as it’s always hanging open, Louie is free to roam in the room, so I moved something heavy so it won’t move around, and I moved his litter box and hay toys around so he has less space to crash.
