It sounds very much like hormonal behavior and it’s a positive sign most likely… it means he likes you. And wants to claim you.

I just got a 4 month old Flemish Giant from a friend who is moving out of state and couldn’t take him with her.  He is littered trained and was kept in a dog crate and no behavioral problems.  I brought him home yesterday and have his litter and food in the dog crate with an xpen attached for him to roam.  I was sitting in the xpen with him for…[Read more]

I felt the same way before i got my bun spayed although she did have complications(they are really rare) it was so worth it! It helped me bond with her and her behavior was sooo much better after the spay. It took awhile to really bond with her and that was just her. With my last bunny we bonded so fast! My poor baby died from gi stasis(i did not…[Read more]

Hello everyone! My bun bun trixie has a bad habit of ripping out carpet. I’ve blocked off the places where she will REALLY dig in and it seems to work. I’ve tried putting her on the wood flooring upstairs but she will not at all walk on it she’ll just scramble onto my lap. Another reason why i don’t want her on the hard wood flooring is because it…[Read more]

Dana – That’s true about pain medication. Metacam is usually favored to be sweet and most bunnies will eat it willingly… some even get a bit greedy about it! Antibiotics are always what gave me trouble. I think the flavoring just doesn’t cover up the yucky antibiotic taste enough. Some are worse than others. There was one that was really bad and…[Read more]

Right now we are at 36 hours. Since no fighting I am going to sleep with them in the room again. I work at home and hope to be able to stay in at least another day or 2 but then will need to venture out.

Seems like they are stuck, but then I’ll see a small improvement but very very slow 🙂 The girl was pooping all over the closet and peeing near…[Read more]

Couches do tend to smell very strongly of humans so they seem to be a problem for some buns.

I’ve seen these couch protectors that I think are meant for dogs. I wonder if something like that might help? Both with blocking the triggering smells and making clean up easier?

She sounds a lot like my Myra. She is very big on booping me and nudging, which usually means I’m in her way, or she is inquiring about the availability of treats. 🙂

We’ve only had her a few months and she also only likes pets when she’s already laying down, but she’s getting more happy with them every day. So just keep at it. 🙂

Don’t feel discouraged! Shy bunnies can take a while to enjoy pets. My advice is to play hard to get! It sounds weird but it works. 🙂 I’ve found when I try to pet while giving treats they are just concerned with getting the treat. I’ve found they are most likely to accept a pet when they are already relaxed. Spend lots of time on the floor with…[Read more]

How long have they been together currently?

It isn’t safe to leave them unsupervised until you are very sure they are bonded. After they seem bonded, then you want to wait 24-48 hours because changing anything or leaving them unsupervised. To me it sounds like they are getting there but not quite, since you mention it doesn’t seem like they’ve…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic What’s “normal” bonded rabbit behavior? in the forum BONDING 6 years, 2 months ago

    Hi there 🙂

So not all pairs are glued at the hip, but you should see at least some cuddling, mutual grooming, litter box sharing, and food sharing. Light nips (no fur pulled) to get the other to move are totally normal and how they communicate.

My pairs over the years have varied in closeness. Some were inseparable, others more independent. My…[Read more]

I completely understand the feeling. But don’t get discouraged! Some bun’s take time. Here are some relaxing tips that might help forge a bond: Rabbit’s like calm music, like soft piano, or meditation (when I play it for my bun’s they will sit, listen, and relax) maybe you could do this and while she is meditating, slowly reach over and give her a…[Read more]

My bun is 6 months. I adopted her about a month and a half ago. She’s pretty social: always hoping around, will check out us, and even my toddler (we give treats). She doesn’t seem to like being petted. I’ve been slowly trying to pet her when she gets a treat but she’s always moving her head or flinching. Her back seems ok but doesn’t seem like…[Read more]
