    She’s never had them before, it’s a brand new pathology.  She recently was dragging her hind feet, but that was diagnosed as Spondylosis with sore hocks.  She’s since recovered.  I didn’t know Dwarves were more susceptible.  She’s been in excellent health her whole life.  Doing some sleuthing, I noticed her seizures started the same time I brou…[Read more]

    Hi thanks for your answer!

    It happens both at my house or at my parents. We do not own any other animals. I usually spend at least a few days with him at my parents house in the hopes to get him to be as little stressed as possible. It only started when I moved out of my parent’s house with him.

    I usually leave him with my parents and the h…[Read more]

    It is perfectly normal and very good for a bun that eats hay to also drink water. Hay is very dry. Buns that eat lots of hay drink a lot more water than buns that eat mostly fresh grass and other fresh greens. A rabbit that only eats dry food, needs to drink at least 100 ml (cc) water per kilo body weight and day.

    My bunny who is 1 year old lop is drinking water every time he eats hay. He would be back at eating hay again after drinking water. It was difficult to make him eat hay and it has only been a week that he has started constantly eating. His usual diet now is timothy+orchard grass hay, leafy vegetables for 2 times a day and 2 tea spoons of versele…[Read more]

    They are not really tasty!!
    This is what happened- I had only access to low quality pellets, they had no hay in the ingredients.
    I needed to give her something so this was the choice for the moment…

    But then I found high quality pellets (what she eats now) and as you can expect the reaction from her side wasn’t great

    Aww… poor Dawn. 🙁

    The underlying reason for the seizures is important. You can treat the symptoms, but if the cause is something treatable then you would want to do that as well. She is a dwarf breed, which are more susceptible to seizures. But if the cause was genetic, you would have thought you would have witnessed a seizure before now. Does…[Read more]

    Wanted to give a little update, this release from the Oregon Department of Agriculture mentions that:

    “Currently, a US manufacturer is working with a University to develop a domestic, FDA approved, new-generation vaccine for RHDV. The vaccine would not require the use of live rabbits for vaccine production and could be scaled up much easier. Once…[Read more]

    @Moonlightbunny Probably not at this time, but it’s something to keep an eye on, and if you feed veggies grown in CA or Mexico that should be taken into account. Since it has become endemic in the US it will likely end up in Canada eventually, but in Australia it spread a lot more rapidly in arid regions, so it’s unclear how long it will take to…[Read more]

    It does sound like puberty. It also sounds like if her pen is “her” space, then going straight into the pen might be frightening to her and trigger her to be territorial. Most buns like having a space that is just “theirs”, that don’t mess with or try to “get” them while they are in (unless needed of course). Rather than going into the pen with…[Read more]

    I agree. That sounds like a lot of oats. Too much could cause GI problems. If you can get her to eat more pellets, even if they are timothy, that would be better. Do you know what the ingredients of these pellets are? Most rabbits like pellets. I’m wondering if these aren’t very tasty.

    I live in Canada. Do I need to be concerned about my rabbits getting this?

    @HipHopBunny Joey is a big big girl and I was surprised she liked a tiny little dude.

    @LBJ10 WOOOO! It’s been a minute since I had 2 bunnies.

    @Louiethebunny he does have some nice sized peepers. Lol.

    @DanaNM He’s smaller than he looks. He fits in my hand and to the end of my wrist. I’ve never had such a tiny bun!

    @Bam Thank you!
