I came upon an article written by Dr. Cayla Iske, PhD from Oxbow (not an advertisement; just the source) about the use of prebiotics vs. probiotics in rabbits and wanted to share it.

When I first got Wick, he had a very persistent URI (upper respiratory infection; lots of sneezing/discharge) and had to be on antibiotics for a long time. Paired…[Read more]

@Louiethebunny My entire spending budget is almost exclusively for my pets. Most of my friends and family roll my eyes because I get so excited at new pet stuff. Lol.

By including a small amount of pellets in a rabbit’s diet, it is a way of ensuring that the rabbit is getting all its necessary nutrients and minerals. Those who do not feed their rabbits pellets have the task of filling in those gaps with a constant variety of vegetables paired with have a good hay-eating rabbit. That is my understanding.

    It is…[Read more]

So I watch 101rabbits a lot and I’ve heard her say a few times that she doesn’t feed her rabbits pellets. She said it’s something she decided with her vet. I was just watching another video ā€œEmergency Prepping For Rabbitsā€ and around the middle of the video she talks about how you shouldn’t feed them pellets. She said they are digested really slow…[Read more]

Id also try cutting out everything except hay and a small amount of pellets (dont stop pellets completely, it can be difficult for the bunny tummy to absorb all the nutrients in hay only, especially if the bun is young). I’d keep giving the probiotics (the best probiotics for rabbits are saccharomyces cereviciae (brewer’s yeast) and enterococcus…[Read more]

I know it can be very difficult, especially since you unexpectedly got this rabbit, but keep in mind the rabbit is not intentionally trying to make you upset– he’s acting like a rabbit, and sometimes that doesn’t fit too well with what we humans want at certain times. For example, running around back and forth very loudly at night is very…[Read more]

Firstly, is the “foul smell” from poop distinctively different than territorial poops? It is natural for rabbits, especially ones not neutered/spayed, to have more territorial poops, that are sort of coated in an oil. A lot of people relate it to an onion-y smell. I have a spayed female who still poops onion-smell occasionally. If it is…[Read more]

Ah that’s good to know, thanks! Yeah our vet just noticed them during a normal vaccinations and checkup appointment. The vet has impressed us when operating on one of our other rabbits so we do trust them with anaesthetic etc. – always a bit nervous still! Interesting that hay eating wears them down, Pebbles loves hay more than any other bun I…[Read more]

Rabbits do twitch while they sleep, so it’s completely normal.

@Bu20055 I’m thinking a safe untreated wood for the walls. Ā Then linoleum flooring to put on the walls? Depends on if he chews that but then you can wipe it off. If you have any ideas of things you could stick to it to make it waterproof that would be good. For flooring, you could use a plastic tarp/shower curtain with foam mats or memory foam ma…[Read more]

I want to say he’s a lop mix just going by body shape & roundish ears… He looks like a black rabbit that has a very sun-bleached coat!

I’ve talked to my dad about the pesticides and he said they haven’t used them in a while on anything and switched to environmentally friendly alternatives.

Hello, everybody! And thank you so much for reading and any advice you can give me.

it’s quite a long story, though.

i have an around 4 months old lop bunny, Dolly ā€˜Binks’ Farton. She lives inside, in a big condo and I let her out, when I’m in the room, usually spend with her more time in the morning and evening. She is not spayed yet, she’s s…[Read more]

About a week ago I got a bunny because his owners didn’t want him anymore and was treating him badly. His nails are twice the length they should be and his behavior has gotten so bad it’s driving me mad.

He digs at the bottom of his cage all day long he does have many toys and a big enough cage to run around in (we sometimes try to let him out to…[Read more]
