        Hi!

So I live around a small lake and on the paths around we have a ton of willow. What kinds of willow are safe? I heard somewhere that white willow wasn’t safe but I can’t remember if that’s for hamsters or rabbits.

The kind we have looks like this:

It’s a weeping variation. Does anyone know what specific kind it is and if it’s safe?

The trees and paths are cared for by someone else in the community but they don’t use pesticides and for weed control I believe they use vinegar.

Also if it is safe is there anything I have to do to before I give it to my future bun except rinse and air dry it? Can it be given fresh? Should I remove the leaves? How much can they be given?

        Thanks a ton!

If it is weeping willow it is safe. I feed it, just be careful not to feed willow if your rabbit is on pain relief medication as the willow can interfere with it.

As long as you’re sure they don’t use pesticides you can feed it. You can feed it fresh or dry, I would recommend rinsing it beforehand. I feed the leaves and stems, they can have it all 🙂

            Okay thanks!

I’ve talked to my dad about the pesticides and he said they haven’t used them in a while on anything and switched to environmentally friendly alternatives.
