@Wick: Oh, ok, they aren’t agressive, and haven’t shown any aggression, other than some thumping from Louie which isn’t really aggression, so I’ll allow some interaction, but the minute it turns bad I’ll separate. Their speed date went super well and ended in some cuddling, so hopefully their actual bonding isn’t too long and strenuous.

It is so charming to get to see, when you know its normal and perfectly healthy 😍

Thumping seems like a normal reaction to having an unbonded rabbit zoom-ing about! It could be an expression of frustration, fear, etc., but pretty non-threatening so I wouldn’t worry too much. My Fable thumps when I’m too loud while she’s sleeping, haha.

It sounds like you have a good plan going forward with pre-bonding procedures.

So not an August photo, but just found photos from when I first met Dorian at the shelter and he totally stole my heart. Trying to figure out if he’s grown since then, I mean I could just stick him on the scale but that’s likely to require bribery. I feel his fur has gotten a little darker, but it changes so much depending on lighting I am not sure.

I have been calling him Flame, Midnight Flame, Flamie and Flamie Diablo.  No devil in this one just because of the black head with fire on his back!  I will be taking him for a check up/stool sample, then a neuter.  He is so good with the litterbox I wonder if already neutered but I would guess someone irresponsible enough to dump him outside wo…[Read more]

From my vet, generally greens that are safe for humans and horses are safe for buns. Same with herbs. There are a few like spinach and parsley that should be eaten in moderation. It really depends on your rabbit’s eating habits. Louie devours all kinds of greens and fruits, so he may be able to cute down on pellets and receive enough nutrients from veggies, but Lola is more reluctant to munch her veggies, (most likely because she came from a rescue that can’t provide a variety of greens.) I get a big box (25lbs) online and keep it in my basement storage area as I don’t really have room for it upstairs, it comes in a big plastic bag inside the box which I just semi seal up. I think it is a discussion you really should make on your vet as a lot depends on your ability to feed a variety and your buns health/eating habits. @Bu20055 Yeah, that could work as long as it is really waterproof. I don’t have experience with those covers but yeah. Fleece on top is nice. I think you would just need something to put on the walls to make it waterproof so the wood doesn’t get wet. @Louiethebunny My entire spending budget is almost exclusively for my pets. Most of my friends and family roll my eyes because I get so excited at new pet stuff. Lol.

By including a small amount of pellets in a rabbit’s diet, it is a way of ensuring that the rabbit is getting all its necessary nutrients and minerals. Those who do not feed their rabbits pellets have the task of filling in those gaps with a constant variety of vegetables paired with have a good hay-eating rabbit. That is my understanding.
