If she is eating willingly, that’s good. Just keep getting food into her and the poops will come.

That was also a thought… apparently there is a bit of an outbreak going on in SB. Going to try to look at it with a blacklight… supposedly if it fluoresces that way it’s ringworm.

She pooped two poops. Then I gave her some more simethicone and syringe fed her. I’m hoping it works 🤞🏻

It’s not ringworm, is it?

Understood. Here’s hoping the medicine helps Hunny and she does not need surgery. As I said in my original post, the dentist is concerned about that option because of the abscess’s location (Hunny’s fourth molar, on the left side). He says there’s no way to extract the infected tooth without taking the perfectly healthy one in front of it, as…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
Bun Jovi seems like he usually has a small patch of dry skin on the back of his ear which I’ve been keeping an eye on.
It seems like it is a bit more crusty than normal. What do ya’ll think? Maybe fur mites? Or just old grandpa dry skin?
It doesn’t seem itchy at all. The second two pictures are with flash, which makes it look a bit…[Read more]

I completely understand the frustration. Here’s what my vet said regarding dental abscess long term treatments (who was very experienced with rabbit dentals). The first step was to extract the bad tooth and clean out the abscess. The vet said eventually he would need to have the molar opposite the one extracted filed (and possibly others), because…[Read more]

I believe he wants to check back with Hunny after the four-week period has ended. We were instructed to give the antibiotic for two weeks, after which we should see some improvement, and then more improvement after another two weeks.

@jerseygirl – Thank you so much for the reassurance and taking the time to research orbifloxacin. I wasn’t having any luck finding instances of it being used with other bunny owners, so it does give me peace to know I’m not alone. 🙂
@DanaNM – I am happy to have a lead but frustrated it took so long to find the abscess, given our suspicion of a…[Read more]

That was kind of what I was thinking with the play space and I will probably set alarms throughout the night just to make sure everything is going well! Thanks for the time tip!!

@prince Dorian the bun lol greedy bun!!! Thanks for your message. 🙂
@DanaNM LOL not sure how a small bun can eat so much. The hay is very important. Thanks for the info. 🙂
I’ll see how much they eat when I give them those handfuls!

@jerseygirl That’s really interesting about the x-rays and possibly thinning the pus!

I agree with Dana. And having those teeth out is not necessarily a bad thing. It could be what finally resolves her problems.
Yhe injectible antibiotic are very good for dental abscess. Perhaps the vet was not wanting to go that route just yet. Had he scheduled a recheck appointment? The oral antibiotic *might* change the consistency of the pus…[Read more]

Sounds good. 🙂 Good luck with the longer sessions! Sometimes all will be good during the day, then around 3 in the morning they get crazy lol.
I would keep them only in neutral until you have marathoned and deem them bonded in that neutral space. Then the community exercise space would be a good transitional space. It also helps to deodorize and…[Read more]

Yeah, I do have a syringe and critical care but she will eat the critical care by herself off of a plate. She has eaten some hay today, a lot of lemon leaves, and 4 large leafs of romaine. Should I still syringe feed?

DanaNM replied to the topic How much veg for my buns? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 1 month ago
@ Prince dorian that is A LOT !
If it’s working for Dorian that’s great, but remember hay should be 80% of the diet! It is possible for buns to get overweight on too many greens as well. Keep in mind the veggies we eat were bred for our stomachs, and bunnies evolved eating MUCH higher fiber plants.
Anyway, I give about 1 large handful twice a…[Read more]

As upsetting as this is, it makes SO much sense given her symptoms. All of her symptoms pointed to a problem with the mouth, so hopefully this will actually cure her for good.
For dental abscesses, I recommend treating as aggressively as possible from the outset. I had a bun with a dental abscess and prolonged antibiotic treatment may slow the…[Read more]

I am so sorry! 😥 Don’t blame yourself! You were doing the right thing by taking her in for a check-up, there is nothing wrong with that! It was unfortunately her time. It is always a hard blow when they leave us. It leaves you in shocked and devastated confusion. Having a feeling of coming home to find her there like you always did, but she…[Read more]
