Fingers crossed she’s soon back to her normal activity level! It does sound very promising that she’s hopping around more!
Buns often gets sick quickly, in many cases because they do their utmost to hide any sign of illness until they nolonger can. Thats typical for prey animals, any sign of weakness and you risk being singled out by a predator.…[Read more]

kendall started the topic Many little mats!!! in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 1 month ago
I have a french lop with satin fur with a bunch of mats on her behind. I have a hair buster comb, but it’s really harsh when I was trying to get rid of the mats and just made the skin irritated. Is there a different product that I can try? They are too small to cut out and they aren’t pulling at her skin, but I don’t want them to get worse. They…[Read more]

At about 9 hours last night Calliope was grooming Theo for a couple minutes. I think part of it had to do with the banana still stuck on his head and because she didn’t know I was looking but either way it’s progress
They have been together 24 hours with no problems!!! but last night something came up. I spent time with my other bunnies and Gwen…[Read more]

Wilburbunny started the topic Loud Breathing in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 1 month ago
Wilbur seems to breath really loud, I attached a video (hopefully you can see it). Does this seem loud or is it normal? I took him to the vet about 2 months ago and they thought it was an upper respiratory infection. They gave him antibiotics and those didn’t help at all. He still has a runny nose, loud breathing (in my opinion), and p…[Read more]

That’s what I mean. I’ll wait till they’ve adjusted and are ready to try to venture farther.

She’s doing much better, even hopping around by herself, started jumping on chairs and bed once again! And less of that sound today. And poops are pretty good too, already.
I haven’t thought that it might take so much time for an improvement. Was delusional, I guess, thought, if a bunny gets sick fast, it gets healthy fast too. After her dia…[Read more]

nipoolas’s sister replied to the topic Choosing hay for my bun. in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 1 month ago
My boy loves orchard grass it also smells nice It was difficult to make him eats hay. It hasn’t been long that he has consistently eaten hay and now I want to introduce him new hays. I will probably go with oat hay since there has been many reviews that buns love it alot.

Bladesmith replied to the topic Rabbit Seizures in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 1 month ago
@Wick I thought of that as well, but Loki eats the same hay as Dawn, without problem. I also bought a new bag, and got rid of the old. She still had a seizure, so I dunno.
I’m stumped. But her quality of life remains high, the spoiled little minx, and she’s well cared for. Best I can do.

It’s better to let them adjust first, you also don’t want them to see you as the person who forces them out of their comfort spot.

Thank you DanaNM, jerseygirl, and HipHopBunny for your kind words.
The clinic does offer necropsy and I have asked them to perform one, they also suspect a stress-related cardiac arrest although they say she behaved perfectly fine throughout the check-up and had a normal heartbeat. But she was so shocked and refusing to move/eat treats when she…[Read more]

Now I’m tempted to buy some botanical hay… I’ve never tried other hays with my buns, but I’m really tempted to start buying the Oxbow timothy+orchard hay mix. I’ll probably go to the store and buy a small bag of each and see what they prefer, because even though they both eat regular timothy hay like it’s the end of the world, something new…[Read more]

Bu20055 started the topic Sherwood Adult Rabbit Complete Pellets? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 1 month ago
Hello!

I saw these pellets online, and was put off at first because they use alfalfa. However, I realized that it shouldn’t be a problem when used in pellets as long as they have the proper nutrition. Now these pellets are EXPENSIVE and are about twice the price of most other brands. What intrigues me about them, however, is that they are grain…[Read more]

Louiethebunny replied to the topic Giving bun free roam time right away? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 1 month ago
Ditto. It does depend on the personality of your new bun, and regardless of how they act I would try to give one full day of settle in time at least. My first rabbit was much more shy than my girl, so for him I gave him a couple days to chill out, and for my new bun, she only needed one day to settle in before she was practically begging to come out.
