@HipHopBunny – Thanks! Mine are the same breed (they’re litter mates), but one looks to be bigger than the other. She just has a larger head and body compared to the other one. I guess litter mates can vary in size? The bigger one (Hazel) doesn’t weigh but just 2 ounces more than the smaller one (Lola), but she’s noticeably bigger in size.

@Wick Thank you so much! The other bun also made his water in his water bowl yellow when I woke up today. I just put in water yesterday and the other bun’s water was fine this morning. I rinsed it out and put new water in. What could of made it yellow?

Another relaxing method is to play some soft music, like soft piano, or natural. It tends to relax rabbits. When I play it with mine they will just sit there, mesmerized. 🙂 Some like to read to their bunnies so that they can get used to your voice.

Thanks for the tips! He is such a sweet bun. Day 6 progress is: bigger droppings, binkies and is submitting for pets. I havent seen him drinking to much water but does eat all the greens we give him. I feel like a foster mom, maybe will be in the future after this experience, lol. We didnt have pets at all because we were waiting for our kids to…[Read more]

Is she molting? My rabbit Wally gets big chunks of hair that come loose by his bum and I have to pull them out for him when he molts. I’m hoping the hair you’re seeing is just a molt and nothing to worry any extra about.

So I think it’s weird that she’s waiting for the other tray but we knows why animals so what they do sometimes! One of my buns has had issues with stasis and my vet recommend Petromalt a couple times a week to keep things moving. Some people swear it works, some people swear it doesn’t but the vet suggested it so he gets it. It supposedly helps…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Butt jolting before passing a cecal in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years ago

I cant say I have experience with this, but when a bun has a gas issue, its recommended you lift up the bun’s butt a little bit to help gas escape. This jolting movement your bun does could be to allow cecals to pass more easily. That he does it more markedly now could be an effect of aging, or a change in intake of food, fiber and/or water. Is he…[Read more]

Sounds like good progress. Typically, rabbit cages are pretty small for bunnies, but because of your situation, I’m sure it’s suitable for a while, though you may want to consider and xpen. Nail trimming isn’t too fun for me either, with my male, I place him up on a tall shelf that is unfamiliar, and he just lets me manipulate his paws and legs so…[Read more]

I’m sorry to hear Hunny is having a hard time.

Considering she had so much trouble the last time her teeth were trimmed, it would be reasonable for the vet to prescribe pain medication. Assuming you didn’t receive any this time around, would it be possible to call the vet and ask? I know your family is resistant to asking the vet for things……[Read more]

I would give the new bunny some time to adjust to their new home. After all, some are more skittish than others. Once baby is settled, you can start building a bond with him just as you would an adult rabbit. Sit quietly nearby and wait for baby to come to you. Ignore him at first. His curiosity will get the better of him. Try hand feeding…[Read more]

The past 48 hours have been an emotional rollercoaster. Hunny is barely eating; she only takes the occasional bite of soaked pellets and hardly touches her water. Critical Care feedings are a nightmare.

Hunny is pooping and peeing in accordance with her food and water intake. I worry because the poops are all shapes and sizes (somewhere between…[Read more]

Generally speaking, big poop is a good thing. It means increase in hay consumption and more fiber to poop out.

With it being only a couple, I actually wonder if it’s just filled with fur. Alternative to the string-of-pearl poops, there is also fur encased in poops when the rabbit passes fur through its system. If you still have one of the poops,…[Read more]

Hi! Longtime lurker of BinkyBunny, parent of one 4 year old bun named Alfredo (some sort of Netherland/English spot mix from the shelter) and soon one 8 week old Holland lop!

I’ve been caring for my Alfredo for about 3 years now, and am familiar with how to interact with him, but this is my first time with a baby, and I’m not sure how different…[Read more]
