Another heads up just in case, sometimes rabbits from mill breeders, (if that’s where you plan on getting one from, I’m not sure) have underlying genetic issues that can cause different health conditions.

I do not know a lot of rabbit breeds, but am a huge fan of the Rhinelander and the Netherland dwarfs. 😉 She definitely looks like a mix of those two, a very pretty rabbit! 🙂 I hear you, they are just begging us to pet them with those fluffy little cheeks, and that adorable twitching nose – they were asking for it! 😆 Give her a pet for me!

Vet basically said everything that was said here, sounds like a stroke, she thinks meloxicam sounds fine. Nothing else will help.
she said that dose “seems fine” agreed he can be on it for the rest of his life and sent me home with 5 days worth.
she didn’t want to treat for EC without doing the test.
they then made me wait and hour to get him ba…[Read more] -

Ooh, maybe she has a Rhinelander or part-Rhinelander relative! I’m thinking her parents might have been mixes as well so I don’t think she’s half of one breed and half another. Thank you for your input and for the compliment! She is very cute. I just wanna hold her all day (but she hates being held lol). Your buns are adorable too!

Broken pattern has been introduced into a lot of breeds, so I wouldn’t go off of pattern. I’d say she’s likely a Nethie mix. Perhaps she’s mixed with a smaller fur breed like Havana?

It is very puzzling. From what I can gather I am doing all that I can at the moment but the only thing left is a strict no veggies for a while just to rule that out as a definite…if it happens again and she hasn’t had veggies at least then I will know..
I have been meaning to get a UTI check on her but struggle for the pee sample for it, is it…[Read more]

It depends on the rabbit, unfortunately. Some rabbits go through life with very few problems, while other rabbits suffer from chronic health issues. These issues can be anything from dental issues to EC episodes, digestive issues (GI stasis episodes) to sore hocks, and more. Bunnies can also become sick with URIs, UTIs, syphilis, ringworm, etc.…[Read more]

Hmmm I was thinking that she must be part Netherland Dwarf too, but I wasn’t too sure! Thank you for your response 🙂

Hmm… this is puzzling. I still wonder if it’s the veggies though. There is no harm in experimenting.

A lot of good advice already said, but just thought I would share my experience as a new bun owner. Previously I have had cats, and I would say they are definitely more destructive (though it can vary between the cat and the bun, Dorian is actually pretty chill most of the time). They aren’t quite as engaging in playing as a cat or especially a…[Read more]

Well our appointment was at 3 and they just now took him back at 4:40
making an ill rabbit wait in a car with construction going on in the parking lot for almost two hours in 80 degree heat.. not giving me a lot of hope that they know/care about what they are doing here.
I wish I could just pick up meloxicam at the store and take care of him myself. -
LBJ10 replied to the topic Injured leg? Stroke? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years ago
I agree. Such rabbit improvement suggests it was an actual stroke and not EC.

That’s the thing she never was off them I just came to the conclusion it must have been that because anything else then she would have been unwell before now but she has been fine.
I took her off them completely for maybe a week and stuck with foraging .. spent a week getting her back on them and she has been on them properly this week but kept…[Read more]

Was she off all veggies before and you just recently reintroduced them? She may just be a bunny that can’t have veggies. They do exist.

Hello guys ..I am back 🙁
So I really am pulling my hair out now. My boyfriend came to get me from work last night saying “she’s doing it again” but when we got home she was fine. She has been fine all day today, playing and running around eating and everything as normal.
I have been giving her some veggies, parsley and some leafy stuff in a…[Read more]

Definitally a mix breed, my girlies are all mixes too. Hmmm, agree with Wick, my guess would be half Netherland Dwarf, and a half… maybe half Rhinelander? She’s got the spots of a Rhinelander. She’s very adorable I must say. 😉

I can’t thank you enough for your help. I’m sorry I’m late getting back to you. I don’t know how to receive notifications.
We haven’t been feeding her any greens for about a week ( she would only eat fresh greens a couple of weeks ago so we didn’t have much choice). She has always had intolerance to fresh veggies so we’ve always stuck to dried…[Read more]
