Hi! Thank you for rescuing this rabbit! He is adorable!
With baby buns (under 6 months), the House Rabbit Society still recommendes unlimited pellets and alfalfa hay as well as grass hay. They set the appropriate age for intro of greens to 12 weeks.ย Unlimited pellets can be a bit too much for some baby buns to handle, meaning they’ll gorge…[Read more]

ALRyder replied to the topic Can anyone recommend if any of these products are a suitable replacement for hay in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago
I recently rescued a bunny and have been doing a bunch of research on different foods and such, because I’ve forgotten a lot of it over the years of not having a bunny. Anyway, one of my original questions was on what the difference was in feeding my rabbit different types of hay.
From everything I could find, basically, Timothy Hay is the type…[Read more]

Hello Ester and very welcome! She has blue eyes!
How lovely that she wants you to pet her 😀 If she makes little smacking noises, like she is eating something, when you pet her, she could be building up to lick your skin. Its a grooming behavior that rabbits do when they like someone, as I’m sure you know. They may start by licking things in the…[Read more]

Sorry, I’ve been super busy and haven’t had much of a chance to get online.
I am not totally lost to the way of rabbits, though it has been a while since I’ve owned one. I used to work at a veterinary clinic where we would occasionally sex rabbits and check on their health and such. This little guy wasn’t too hard to sex, because his privates are…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Rabbit vet in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years ago
There are antibiotics that are not safe for rabbits, but I doubt a vet would try to prescribe something if you are suspecting ear mites.
When looking for a vet, try looking for exotic or avian vets. My vet office actually advertises itself as an avian vet. They see all kinds of “exotics” though, with one doctor (the one we see) specializing in…[Read more]

Welcome back Muchelle! ๐
I’m so sorry about Kuro. ๐ย I’m glad you got some new babies though, they’re adorable (they look greek to me?) I love tortoises, I got a name picked out just in case I ever get one. ๐

I would tried something like Yesterday’s News (paper pellets), horse stall pellets (pine pellets) or wood stove pellets (plain, no accelerant).

LBJ10 replied to the topic Rabbit hasn't pooped or eaten for the last 12 hours. in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years ago
I have a bunny that is prone to gas episodes. He will act uncomfortable, shift positions, push his belly to the floor, sit in the litter box (as if he thinks he has to go), refuses to eat, etc. His stomach is never hard or distended during these episodes. I would be extremely alarmed if it was because that would suggest “bloat”, which is very…[Read more]
