Thank you! He was enjoying the hay last night. I picked up some Timothy hay from the store in case that’s the issue. I mixed some into the new hay. He got excited when he heard the bag but when I put it in he didn’t eat it.
I tried to get him to come out and run around to see if it would help. He only came out because I bribed him with pel…[Read more]

I opted to set up a pen in a completely different area of the shelter, that was more quiet, very large, and new to all three buns. We did about a 2 hour session yesterday and I think it was pretty good! Nothing groundbreaking, but it seems they are getting better at communicating. Bonnie mounted Bun Jovi a few times and he looked VERY confused.…[Read more]

I think the stressing will help too. Litter boxes can be a tough one! Are you using a brand new huge one? I usually don’t even introduce a box until well into the marathon when they seem pretty much bonded, and one of my metrics of “yep, I think they are bonded” is when they can share the litter box without issue (or share two that are next to…[Read more]

Her box habits might not return until they are fully bonded, so I personally would actually work on finishing the bond, then worry about litter training again! I’ve had some buns that all box habits go out the window completely until the bond is fully cemented.

Maybe he doesn’t like the new hay very much so isn’t eating enough, which led to some gas? Some buns are really picky about hay, and I think I remember Pinky was kinda picky about hay in general? If he refuses to eat the new hay you will need to try a different kind unfortunately, but maybe mixing some of the old hay in will encourage him to try…[Read more]

I wish it was outside! 😆 I work at a laundry/dry cleaner, pressing clothes. Here in GA it’s always hot and humid anyway, the building has no a/c so it gets to be close to 100 degrees in there. Plus with all the steam the humidity goes through the roof. It actually feels better outside than in there on some days. I shouldn’t complain though,…[Read more]

Thank you so much! I’m glad it’s not gi stasis. I’m new to having bunnies, trying to learn about these health things. He hasn’t really been eating hay today, just a couple pieces. Muffin has been eating more.
I’ll do that with the drops then, thank you! I’ll see if it makes him feel better.

For a second I thought the tittle said “rabbit safe pants”. If only there was such a thing 😆
Can’t wait to see what you’ll make, please post pics when you’re done! 🙂

Its a great sign that he is eating, also pooping all over a cage is not a sign of stasis. Obviously, because stasis means the intestines are not moving. When the intestines stop moving, poop can’t move out.
He can very well be having son gas. Simethicone baby has drops typically take 20-30 min to take effect. Give 1-2 ml every hour for three…[Read more]

Hazel replied to the topic New bunn asking me to play with him – all night – very loudly in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years ago
Well you kind of shot yourself in the foot teaching him to make a ruckus when he wants to get out. He’s just doing what you taught him. However you reinforced this behavior (treats or just by letting him out), stop doing that. At this point there isn’t much you can do about it other than ignoring him when he does it. That also goes for if he does…[Read more]

I gave him a belly massage maybe an hour ago. His stomach felt kind of firm. Muffins feels the same though, but I felt him when he was laying down and Pinky when he was sitting hunched. Maybe full of food? I just gave Pinky another belly massage and it felt softer, still a little firm on one side. I don’t know what it’s supposed to feel like tho…[Read more]

Muchelle: Thank you for helping all of those people. 🙂 Oh no! Is it a long walk from the store? Haha, you could send the “rabbits”, I’m sure they’d pick you out some nice carrots! 😆

He’s now eating some hay. Still acting a little too chill for being Pinky.

I turned the lights on this morning and Pinky didn’t get as excited as he usually does. He usually jumps up to the front of the pen and stands up with his paws on the bars. He just sat there and I tried to call him over to me but it took a bit, which is unusual.
He ate the veggies I gave him though. Could it have anything to do with giving them t…[Read more] -

if I’m not mistaken, water-based wood stain that has been left to completely cure should be safe for pets. Or you could use natural food dyes, I guess make sure first the bun doesn’t like to eat wood or rope before you build anything!
