I think you did exactly the right thing, don’t feel guilty at all! They really can go into stasis so quickly and for seemingly no reason sometimes.
It sounds like he is getting good care now so I’m sure he will be feeling better soon.

Qais started the topic Is Glazed Fir safe for rabbits? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 11 months ago
Hi
I was interested in getting a small pet tower for my bunny and its made with glazed fir wood. It says is non-toxic and is targeted for cats and small dogs but I was wondering if it’d be dangerous for a bunny to chew?

Thank you!

@shayminshaming
It’s great she has a good hay appetite normally. I think it’s good to have pain meds on hand if you also have motility meds on hand. Stasis is quite painful, and the motility meds can sometimes cause cramping which can make it even more so. Pain can cause things to actually slow down more, so it can be therapeutic in addition to…[Read more]

Hi and thank you so much for responding. I’m very sorry to take to long to reply; I marked this thread to send me emails when someone comments but that didn’t happen until today. :C
I’m so terribly sorry to hear about Desmond and that he passed so soon. It’s a huge fear of mine that this will impact Fuji’s quality of life or that I won’t cat…[Read more]

To answer your questions:

Hi both – thanks for your responses, I really appreciate it. A vet tech was nice enough to write me this evening and said they diagnosed him with GI Stasis and put him on Critical Care, subcutaneous fluids and Cisapride. I’m not sure if the other vet I talked to initially was misinformed or something because he seemed so nonchalant considering h…[Read more]

He actually used to only eat leaves but now he decided he prefers stems lol. I’ll try the sps first cut, hopefully it will be nice and green!

Wow that sounds like it could be a real possibility, I will look into getting an x-ray done, I am just worried about the price. If he does have tooth root problems pushing on his sinuses, are there any solutions or treatments? Or will I have to live with this on and off sneezing problem for the rest of his life?
The vet did say his last bacterial…[Read more]

Here is a new Baylor update! He is doing well and we are preparing for his neuter next month. He will be 6 months old in November!
Here he is! He still loves his tunnel!
Here he is playing with his rattle roller, although it’s not his favorite toy. Baylor is obsessed with cardboard roll toys recently, which is great because we always have plenty! <…[Read more] -

I have been using SPS for a while now. I’m sorry you had a bad experience with them.
In case you weren’t familiar, timothy hay specifically can be bought in different “cuts”, and some rabbits have preferences on their cuts. I get 1st cut, which is the “least” popular as it’s mainly hard stems and stalks with seed heads. My rabbits love it though,…[Read more]

I am trying to bond my two rabbits: Franklin and Bonny. Both are 4 and neutered. After loosing her husbun, we adopted Franklin from Pets at home a few weeks ago.
Upon their first introduction Franklin tried mount Bonny but she wouldn’t have any of it! After a while she would start nipping him and trying to mount him . This then resulted in full…[Read more]

It doesn’t sound like you overreacted. Rabbits can go downhill really fast, they’re not “wait and see” animals. You made the right call. He was in obvious discomfort , his temp was low and he wouldnt eat or drink -that is cause to take a bun to the vet. The bun needs pain relief, sub q fluids, possible gut motility medication and warming up.
I d…[Read more]
