Thank you all for the encouraging words, sympathy and understanding. It really does help. We do have lots of photos of Buddy and wonderful memories.

LBJ10 thank you for commenting about our parrotlet. That helps put my mind at ease.

Hmm… this is interesting. I’m wondering, since it’s protruding from inside the mouth/cheek, if this is an oral papilloma. It’s hard to tell from the photo. As Dana said, it could be an abscess as well.

Hi BunnyLass! That spray contains pyrethrin. Although it is considered one of the safest insecticides, adverse reactions have been observed in rabbits. This is why they recommend against using OTC treatments for cats and dogs that contain pyrethrin on rabbits. To answer your question, it would probably be OK if the spray did not come in contact…[Read more]

We have A LOT of flies in our house and I was wondering if there’s safe bug sprays for pets.

    Is Zevo safe?

    Is this one safe? https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/country-vet-metered-insecticide-fly-spray-64-oz

I’m so sorry to hear about Buddy. These things happen, unfortunately, especially in areas where there are not a lot of exotic vets. From his symptoms though, I do wonder if much could have been done even if an exotic vet was on-hand. They may have been able to provide better supportive care, but the outcome may have been the same.

    For Charlie…[Read more]

Oh, wow, you sure have had quite the time! πŸ˜₯

I’m so so so so so sorry that you lost Buddy! πŸ˜₯Β Β What has helped me in the past sometimes, is to look through old photos of them, to smile at the memories, and to laugh at their antics! πŸ˜€ They sure do have a memorable character don’t they? πŸ˜‰Β There were those days though when I just ne…[Read more]

    πŸ˜†

Yes, the few that look stuck together were from my great job as a photographer! πŸ˜†

When I broke it up, they weren’t soft and mushy, and I don’t really know what digested hay would look like, I assume it would be green, but I only found a brown. Should I take a picture of the broken up poop? πŸ˜†

Thank you for your response! πŸ™‚

Thank you for your kind reply.Β  I’ll either take Charlie to our regular vet who normally saw Buddy or possibly a new vet who I’ve heard is very good with exotics and rabbits. Only problem there is I’ve heard she works two different clinics so not at same one all week. The other clinic is out of town. But I may call and check. I’d like to have the…[Read more]

    Hah!

To me the difference here is that Silver’s poops look very uniform in size, and you know they are normal for her. πŸ™‚ From the photo it looks like there are two stuck together, but I think that’s just the camera angle. From Pinky’s poops in the other thread I was more noticing the irregular sizes than the color.

If you break them up are they…[Read more]

I don’t have much to add on to what Bam said, I just wanted to say I’m very sorry for the loss of your sweet Buddy. <3 It does sound like something quite serious was going on, it is so unfortunate you had to deal with such poor treatment on top of having a very sick bunny.

There are a lot of cases of upper respiratory infections that come on this…[Read more]

I was looking in the thread “Soft Dark Poop” and thought that the poops in question looked a lot like Silver’s! πŸ˜† So, not wanting to take over the thread I decided to start my own! πŸ˜‰

I am so sorry you lost Buddy. It does sound like an absolute nightmare. When a bun develops nystagmus and other neurological signs, the first things a vet should suspect are aΒ  middle ear infection or e cuniculi. I’m so sorry the ER clinic treated you the way they did.

I’m very sorry your new bun isnt well. He will need antibiotics for this,…[Read more]

I think if you just hang one on the border between them that should work? You’ll have to see if they dig at it or chew it. With mine I was able to clip it to the outside of the fence so they weren’t able to chew at it or lift it up easily.

DanaNM replied to the topic Anyone know where to get nose guards in Canada? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 5 years, 11 months ago

When I used hardware cloth I would use pliers to bend the edges in so they weren’t sharp. It was pretty time consuming and fiddly (which is why I was so excited about the “nose guards” LOL).

The hardware cloth roll I got was actually the same width as my x-pen was high, so I just used the whole roll to line the x-pen. Then I only had to worry…[Read more]

It might help to hang up a towel or a blanket for now. Sometimes it can be a bit too much for them to see each other right away. Hanging up a towel can help them get used to scents first, then you can gradually bring down the barrier.

If they are constantly trying to “get at” each other, they might do better with the buffer of 6-8 inches between…[Read more]
