Thank you DanaNM. In the photo above that I said I woke up to in the morning, the one squished on the floor had some chewed up hay but mostly just mush. The other ones seem to be chewed up hay.
I haven’t noticed his poops being super smelly. I mostly just notice the wet wood smell from the wood pellets. But then I open the window and the smell g…[Read more]

Thank you for the update! It sounds like a good vet clinic! Revolution is the best antiparasitic for rabbits. I have used sulfamethoxasile/trimetoprim with two of my own buns, for respiratory infections, with excellent results.
I’d recommend giving the benebac a few hours after or before the antibiotics, to give it the best chance possible to do…[Read more]

We did ask about the risk to Pip our parrotlet and he advised we keep hands washed and not let them have direct physical such as Pip having contact with Charlies ears, etc. Pretty much same as what LBJ10 had said and advised.

Sorry, everyone…I meant to post an update yesterday on Charlie. I tried to make appt with the vet Buddy saw. I was told they are no longer seeing rabbits, but since they had seen Buddy, receptionist would ask vet and call me back. Also said they were booked yesterday, but she thought Charlie could come around 10:30 once she asked vet. She…[Read more]

Agree with Bam, sometimes they try to scare you off with a high price because they don’t want to admit they don’t feel confident in their own skills. As you said, that might not be the case with this vet. However, I’ve been to a couple of vets before who were supposed to be experts on exotics and I was shocked by the ineptitude they showed when…[Read more]

Hazel replied to the topic Neutering Options for Old Male? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 10 months ago
6 isn’t too old at all. If a vet tells you that, it just means they’re not rabbit savvy so you want to stay away from them anyway. A good rabbit vet won’t have any issue with neutering him.

Her showing interest in hay is great news! So glad that her appetite seems to be returning. Poor thing has been through a lot, and you too! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for lots of poop today! 🙂

Hi everyone,
We have had our little Willow for 10 days now – shes just over 10 weeks old
we have a large dog pen in the kitchen for her and she free roams when we are in – however this setup cannot work long term as the pen is in the way – i’m hoping to let her have free roam of the whole downstairs when we are home and the kitchen only when we…[Read more]

That sounds like a very nice doctor!
Orchard hay is softer than timothy. A late cut, like third cut, of any type hay is softer than the earlier cuts. Oat hay can have seed heads that many bunnies appreciate a lot.
It is if course a lot more difficult when you cant go out and choose hay in a store, some hay dealers don’t even specify what type of…[Read more]

I do apologise I cut my last message off very quickly as my doctor and a nurse turned up it’s so very oldie worldie where I live and the doctor will just tap the door and walk in so I’ve had a bit of an MOT myself 🤦🏼♀️ I said to the doctor jokingly ‘you could have a look at my bunny while you’re here and bless him we had a good 15 minute chat ab…[Read more]

Naaw, I’m so glad she wants to rat what you feed her!
I give my bun Critical Care that has papaya and pineapple in it, but those ingredients are listed after salt even, so I am assuming the amount is miniscule. My bun thrives on CC, which he needs to keep weight on.
Some buns will eat softer hay or hay cut up into smaller pieces. You can also…[Read more]

Thank you Bam, the cc that is arriving tomorrow I noticed is papaya flavour so hope that won’t hurt her it’s the only one I could get other than buy 20gm packets and I wanted a large one I didn’t notice the flavour until the notification came through about the order. We’re just getting ready for her 10am feed she’s much calmer now taking them and…[Read more]

So glad to hear she’s being so wonderful!
Papaya and pineapple have traditionally been used to break up hair balls in the bunny gut. Recently there has been concerns that papaya and pineapple could potentially hurt the gut lining of stasis rabbits. This would be because both fruits contain proteolytic enzymes, ie enzymes that break down proteins.…[Read more]

PIPPIN UPDATE
The baby girl is going strong ( I hope) taking her cc, water, meds, gas drops
My question is she won’t nibble on a piece of fresh pineapple can I give her a bit of pineapple juice via syringe? The internet said no as it’s to sweet but I’ve heard or read somewhere that it’s good for gi stasis, I mean I didn’t ask the internet…[Read more]

I noticed a spot about a month ago on her rug but I couldn’t remember if it was there before so I shrugged it off. There are also two more spots on her mat. It started happening when I added fruit back into her diet (Only a small piece once a week) I’ll stop the fruit and see if it helps

No, but if it’s just one then it was probably just a little upset. Have there been any more like this?
