Thank you Bam, the cc that is arriving tomorrow I noticed is papaya flavour so hope that won’t hurt her it’s the only one I could get other than buy 20gm packets and I wanted a large one I didn’t notice the flavour until the notification came through about the order. We’re just getting ready for her 10am feed she’s much calmer now taking them and…[Read more]

So glad to hear she’s being so wonderful!
Papaya and pineapple have traditionally been used to break up hair balls in the bunny gut. Recently there has been concerns that papaya and pineapple could potentially hurt the gut lining of stasis rabbits. This would be because both fruits contain proteolytic enzymes, ie enzymes that break down proteins.…[Read more]

PIPPIN UPDATE
The baby girl is going strong ( I hope) taking her cc, water, meds, gas drops
My question is she won’t nibble on a piece of fresh pineapple can I give her a bit of pineapple juice via syringe? The internet said no as it’s to sweet but I’ve heard or read somewhere that it’s good for gi stasis, I mean I didn’t ask the internet…[Read more]

I noticed a spot about a month ago on her rug but I couldn’t remember if it was there before so I shrugged it off. There are also two more spots on her mat. It started happening when I added fruit back into her diet (Only a small piece once a week) I’ll stop the fruit and see if it helps

No, but if it’s just one then it was probably just a little upset. Have there been any more like this?

Is that normal? It looks like some one spilled a few drops of syrup on a regular poop.

Removing a single veggie type quickly shouldn’t do any harm.
I forgot to ask, when you break open a poop, does it look like chewed up hay, or is it very smushy and smelly?

Yeah I’ll just add that cost of living is stupidly high where I live, so interpret the prices I gave for my region with that in mind!

Yes, the “smaller amounts against the wall” sounds like spraying to me. And, believe me, they can start spraying at a pretty young age.

When you say “Normal Price Vet”, do you mean dog/cat vet? Do they see rabbits on a regular basis? I agree with the others, ask how many spays/neuters they perform on rabbits. I’m not saying they aren’t qualified to do it… but keep in mind that neutering a rabbit is different than neutering a dog or a cat. This is particularly true for anesthesia, etc.

Rescues neuter older rabbits all the time. If they are older, bloodwork is generally recommended prior to surgery just to make sure everything is OK.

Were they natural fibers or synthetic? I imagine they are short enough in length that it won’t matter much either way.

Looks like an poorly formed cecotrope. And she has poo on her face, literally.

Hopefully you were able to make an appointment with your regular vet. 🙂
I suppose if you want to be super cautious, you can make sure your bird doesn’t come in contact with any of Charlie Brown’s nasal secretions. Like if you’re holding him, maybe change your shirt before letting your bird sit on your shoulder. Washing your hands between…[Read more]

Thank you Bu20055! I’m pretty overprotective if you can’t tell LOL. I mean better safe than sorry right? But yeah doing just romaine tomorrow seems like it won’t harm him. I’ll see how it goes.

Holy crap… this seems like such an outrageous price to me. I’ve gotten 4 bunnies spayed/neutered at a local vet for $80-120 and the procedure has gone perfectly every time. I would NOT spend anywhere near that amount of money… maybe $300 at the most is what I’d consider but man, even that’s pushing it. Read reviews on the “cheaper” vet and m…[Read more]

Esther doesn’t seem bothered swapping between different veggies day by day or week by week. I don’t see the need to reduce slowly, because it’s different than giving them something they’ve never had before. I’d say go ahead a switch fully to romaine.

Thank you DanaNM! Only Muffin has been seen there and treated for the situation he had going on around his mouth. He healed up but I haven’t been able to have a good look at it for a while. Pinky wasn’t seen by the rabbit vet yet, they only went to the regular vet to get treated for ear mites together.
I’ll see if I can start weighing them then…[Read more]
