BrunosMama replied to the topic Nationwide rabbit insurance – yay or nay?/Is pet insurance worth it for bunnies? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 7 months, 1 week ago

I don’t have any personal experience with Nationwide (or pet insurance in general), but I wonder if it would be as difficult as dealing with human insurance? All the prior authorizations for treatments, denied coverage, etc especially for exotics like bunnies.

I know there is a specific line of credit called CareCredit that is geared towards…[Read more]

I don’t have any personal experience with Nationwide, but I believe they exclude pre-existing conditions. To be honest, I think you would do better with just setting money aside as an emergency fund for your pets.

I’m very sorry about Guddy. I removed your request for financial support. Asking for money is against this forum’s rules.

    Hello,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a lot of hope. My bunny, Guddu, is suffering from a serious and painful dental abscess caused by pre-molar overgrowth. We had to do urgent abscess drainage surgery because her tooth was dangerously close to piercing through her jaw and skin. Unfortunately, full root or tooth removal isn’t available i…[Read more]

Personally, I think if buns have a home base and then freeroams sometimes, that’s considered being penned up. I think it’s also fair to say to landlord, if it comes up, hey, I cuddle with my bun and then they run off. Even better is if you say, due to this, I’ve set aside a larger amount in case of any issues.

Back when I had a hamster, the…[Read more]

    Hey Rae!

I guess, if it were me, I would probably not mention it to him and just pen them up when he comes by.

You paid your pet deposit and it sounds like you and your partner are responsible and excellent tenants. It doesn’t seem like anything would really change if you penned them up vs leaving things as they are except alleviating a little…[Read more]

Yes, we paid a pet deposit somewhere to the tune of $200 for our four pets which the landlord stated was mainly due to the rabbits.

I still feel a bit guilty about it, but I decided after talking to my partner that we just won’t say anything and continue on as is – just penning the buns when the landlord comes by and hope for the best. I don’t…[Read more]

Yes! That describes our house perfectly lol. I even pointed out that *technically*, my husband participates in nail trimmings, too – he holds them while I clip lol. But, I guess since he is moral support, I’m still the bad guy. 🙄

To be fair, he gave Arthas a firm talkin’-to about being nice to his mom, so he tries😂. (It was cute. “Now, Arthas,…[Read more]

    Hi all,

I am getting my two cats covered via AKC insurance, and was looking to get my two buns insured.

I see that in the US (correct if wrong) the only company who insures rabbits is Nationwide, a company that from my research is generally regarded as a sub-par pet insurance company.

Do we have any positive or negative experiences for…[Read more]

So you have already paid a pet deposit? I don’t know… if it were me, I would probably just not say anything. IF you feel you must, then I would go with option 3. But keep in mind that could be opening a whole new can of worms and then you might be forced to keep them penned all the time.

    Hello!

I have two rabbits: Gus and Max. Both neutered males, unbonded, living separately, and around four years old. Gus is a lop (like 5ish lbs maybe?) and Max is a rex/flemish (10ish lbs). I think rex, past owners said flemish.

When I moved into my current apartment, we disclosed we had our bunnies and was told that was fine as long as they…[Read more]

The can be dramatic, that’s for sure! It’s especially hard when you’re always the “bad guy”. It seems it’s always one person who does the picking up, trimming nails, grooming, giving meds, etc…. and then there is the person that is just the bringer of treats and other good things for some reason. 😐

So, I have been on the receiving end of a full blown bunny grudge this week. Oh, the tiny anger!

We are working on bonding Arthas and Georgia. The other day, I decided to put them in a large carrier and bring them in the kitchen with me for a date while I was doing some housework. The date itself went pretty well, but going inΒ  the carrier means…[Read more]

Things seem to have settled now. Seems like it was a case of spring fever that has passed! Strange, Glenn is 8 now and I’ve never noticed this kind of seasonally driven behaviour so it is weird that it can just spontaneously happen after all these years. It reached its peak a few days after this topic was created and I actually needed to seperate…[Read more]

I was thinking something similar to LBJ – if you could line the cushion with something soft, yet disposable, you could maybe just toss the cloth when it gets icky or when he gets up to eat. Maybe cut pieces of fleece or a bed sheet? I know paper towels would be too rough on his little bum.

When I have had to do butt baths in the past, I did them…[Read more]

Yeah… I had this problem. Is it possible to line the cushion with something? Like faux sheepskin?

As for poopy butt cleaning, I would place a towel on the bottom of the bathtub and use the handheld shower head (turned down) to just get his rear wet. I would support his front half with one hand and his feet would be on the towel. Then I would…[Read more]
