It is recommended to let the surviving bun see and interact with the deceased bun, unless you suspect cause of death to be a contagious illness. In Pippin’s case cause of death is unlikely to have been something contagious that Keisha hadn’t already been exposed to during earlier contacts. I dont know if there’s any scientific support for the…[Read more]

Thank you for the reply, how far is their blind spot? I don’t try to trigger it. For example if I have him on my bed and I would try to dust off hay bits maybe like 2 or 3 feet away he will come over and start grunting at me as I bushed stuff off. I’m guessing this is still the defensive behavior and should avoid doing that until he’s off the bed.

hi Bam
thank you so much for your reply it’s so helpful. As you say we know our rabbits well enough to know if they are suffering by their mannerisms and how active they are. Jasper seems to cope with the metacam well. I know he does not grind his teeth when he has it so it works. I will see what the vet says on Friday. Is burring same as filing?

Rabbits have a blind spot in front of their face, because of this they can easily get startled if something moves around in front of them and can cause them to get defensive. Also, if a rabbit wants to “start trouble” with another rabbit, they will sometimes dash around in front of them, which will also cause a defensive reaction.
So no, it’s…[Read more]

Thank you all so very much for all the time you put into helping Pippin, sweet sweet Pippin 💔😢 I’m struggling not seeing her little face looking at me, waking today and not seeing her there I’m cross with the vet/virus for not being able to take her and get her the help she needed. I took pippin down to her mom to let her mom know and except she…[Read more]

If she keeps having violent sneezing fits today I’d call the vet again. It does however seem like the current antibiotics have done some good, and its not uncommon for a URI to require at least 2 weeks of antibiotics. It sounds great that she’s gained some weight!

It is common for rabbits especially elderly rabbits, to develop spurs on their molars. The spurs can become so prominent that they cause sores on the inside of the rabbits cheeks or on the tongue. The molar spurs must be burred under full anesthesia.
We have and have had many buns here who undergo and have undergone regular dental…[Read more]

My rabbit who is 10 snd a rescue I have had 2 years only eats soft pellets due to dental problems. He was having regular filing but the regular vet is on long term sick. A new vet looked at his back teeth and was concerned these are growing to the sides of his mouth. She questioned whether ethical to keep treating his teeth. He is an active rabbit…[Read more] -

My Rex is neutered and about 3 years old and he’s not aggressive towards people but if you move something back and forth relatively close to him he will begin to grunt and if you continue will lunge at you. Is this something you can train out of bunnies or it’s just his personality?
