This is totally normal after a neuter. Their hormones increase for 4-6 ish weeks after, before going away. Give it some time, and he’ll settle down.

Hi All! We just had our 6.5 month old lop neutered.  It has been three days since his surgery and he seems WAY more hormonal, trying to mount our legs and honking and really agitated.  He is more persistent than he ever tay before the surgery. Is this something anyone has experienced before?

    Thank you!

Thank you Dana 🙂 I’ll take her to the vet as soon as I can. Hope we can manage any discomfort she might have…

I’ll buy the Oxbow joint support in my next online order, but I’ll have to do some research on softer litters, since here in Spain we don’t have Carefresh 🙂

She does have more shallow litter boxes in the room and around the house,…[Read more]

Hmmm that does sound like a touch of arthritis. You might ask your vet about a low dose of daily metacam going forward (it could also be a trial to see if it helps). Does she have additional boxes in the room?

Maybe switching litters would make it more enticing?

Your description of her slowing down and stiffness do sound like arthritis. I used…[Read more]

I know what you mean, we just never know how long we have with them. 😥

It didn’t occur to me that it could be arthritis, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she had it because I’ve noticed her hind legs are a little bit stiff and she’s rather lazy and clumsy. She doesn’t seem to have any problem jumping in and out of the litter box or cage though (when she feels like it).

My cage set-up is very simple. In one side…[Read more]

And here is a recent picture of Chester’s condo (figured out pictures! Woo! Thanks technical thread!).

Tried to get a view where you could see the grid underneath.

    Imgur Link to Condos

Inserting isn’t working because I am terrible at technology but there’s some pics/a video.

We also have carpet so I put some scrap vinyl down under/in front of the doors so hay is easier to sweep.

What do you mean by a few weeks in neutral? A few weeks of living together 24/7?

Can you take his temperature? In addition to fluids and syringe feeding, keeping him warm if he’s cold would be the other supportive care to give until you can get him to the vet. I would focus on fluids (but nothing with a lot of sugar as that can further upset the gut)

If the ER vet sees rabbits, that would be the best bet. If they don’t see…[Read more]

Hello, my baby is not eating or drinking (or pooping or peeing, either) and it might possibly have been 12 hours or more since he ate anything.

I gave him a bunch of hay last night around 3-3:30 Am and it was (mostly ) gone by 1-2:00 pm the next day.

Now the hay was brown and it smelled weird, it was a new Pack of Timothy Hay from the store…[Read more]

Just seeing this thread now.  I have had aggressive bunnies before. Sometimes it’s fear, sometimes it’s habit based on what worked before, territorial issues etc.    And so it can be approached differently for different reasons.   So far though, it looks like what you have been advised and are doing is working!  So I won’t add any further advic…[Read more]

Does anyone know if there is virtual vet appointments available anywhere? I have a question about my rabbit’s eye issue and no one at the vet’s office could give me advice unless we have a visit. The only visit is over a week away.

Maybe more context might be helpful. I’m very new here. I’ve had pet rabbits in the past, but this past week I…[Read more]
