I second the APD hay. It’s softer and smells lovely. My picky, spoiled lionhead loves APD timothy gold and the APD feedtastic one. Give it a try. š

My bunnies’ favorite hay is American Pet Diner Timothy Gold.Ā Ā They also get a variety of Oxbow hays, but APD is their preferred one.Ā It always seems fresh and fragrant and not as dry as some other hays seem to be. It is a second cutting hay, so it’s softer, and doesn’t have as much fiber, but it sounds like your bunny is getting a lot of fi…[Read more]

Iāve been using a plastic shower curtain from the dollar store on top of dollar store memory foam mats. Then I put dollar store blankets on top. Lol! It works to keep the floor dry. A thick tarp works too. You just need to make sure you tuck it under the mats so it wonāt get chewed. Even when my bunnies get to it sometimes, they donāt eat it.…[Read more]

Yes, she is spayed.
She is still making happy sounds whenever I give her head rubs, and she certainly didnāt say no to that slice of apple I offered her yesterday, so I guess she feels okay…? Itās just that itās odd for her to not jump at the opportunity of getting out of her hutch, sheās too… quiet. I understand for some bunnies this is norm…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Worried about Louie's weight in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 10 months ago
I would suggest you start weighing him twice a week (or even more often to begin with) and keep a weight diary. This way you’ll soon be able to determine if he starts gaining due to the separate feedings, or if he loses more weight in spite of getting more food. I weigh my bun in a bowl on digital kitchen scales on the floor -in case the bun…[Read more]

Firstly, thank you for the advice, itās much appreciated.
In regards to getting her spayed I was planning on doing this regardless as I am aware of the risk of cancer. I had planned on doing it at the start of this year but havenāt been able to due to Covid (where I live has only just come out of a second lockdown and during this time vets hav…[Read more]

As of recently, I’ve noticed Louie seeming much thinner than Lola. I was less concerned several months ago when he was still younger, but lately, he has been seeming pretty thin, his shoulder blades, spine, and back legs bones feeling much more prominent than Lola’s. I’ve started feeding him separately from Lola, in case she is eating more than…[Read more]

Hi all,
I have a problem with my rabbit who is neutered more or less since June. LBJ10 replied to the topic Advice on ear infection treatment plan for bun in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 10 months ago
Hmm, I take it that the infection is not in the inner ear then. I wonder if he would benefit from a drop or ointment. You can do this as long as the eardrum is still intact.
I’m sorry the vet hasn’t been very forthcoming with information. It doesn’t sound like the vet has done anything unusual. One antibiotic didn’t work, so they did a culture…[Read more]

Hi All!
I first want to say how helpful this website has been as a bun-owner of 6 years now! I’ve been reading the topics about ear infections folks have posted, but wanted to ask some advice specifically about my bunny. My rabbit Merlin has a bad ear infection in his lop ear (he’s got helicopter ears so the flopped-down ear has the infection).…[Read more]

My girl, Esther, also had uterine cancer before being spayed. It was quite bad and she likely wouldnāt have lasted long if she hadnāt been spayed when she was š . Sheās around 6 years old. Her surgery went very well and she had no problems after.
I recently started fostering another rabbit in hopes of bonding him with Esther, and weāve been ma…[Read more]

Ah, I understand. Any sudden behavior change is good to take notice of. Could she have maybe sprained something when jumping down?
And just to confirm… is she spayed?
Any source of pain could cause a change in behavior, so in addition to thinking about tummy issues, and getting some baseline blood work, I would have her teeth checked as well.…[Read more]

Oh no, the vet wasn’t the one who brought up the cremation, I was. I’ve been so paranoid with Luna’s mortality that I’m trying to get everything in order in my head, so that when it happens, I’ll be ready. But I think it’s making me even more paranoid. I’ve gone into a loop.
The arthritis possibility crossed my mind a few times, but Luna was…[Read more]

Lots of bunnies will pee on soft things, unfortunately, so they might just not be good candidates for having their own bed.

Hi there, welcome š
Regardless of your decision to bond, spaying (the term for castrating a female) is important in female rabbits, as they have very high rates of reproductive cancers (about 75% by age 6). She is not too old to be spayed, as long as your vet if experienced with spays. So you will need to call around and find a good vet, and you…[Read more]
