Yeah, it looks like a callus to me. What ointment did the vet give you? An OTC cream like Bag Balm may work just as well. I guess it depends on how expensive the stuff your vet prescribed is.

How are things going with your three HipHop?

Mounting and spraying can definitely be part of the bonding process, even when there are no hormones left. I know of some bonded pairs where the male will still spray the female daily.

I agree with Dana. With an experienced vet the surgery is very safe. My girl is 6 and when they spayed her she had quite advanced cancer.
