Hi all, so Starlight has been so moody lately and I don’t know why. When I went to say good morning and giver her a tummy rub she proceeded to growl and run away, then turned to me with the “treats please look” and stood on her hind legs and begged like normal. This isnt the only time too, one minute she’s licking you like you need a shower and…[Read more]

We have had plenty of rabbits here that have been successfully treated for URI and ear infections. Treatment can be long though, several weeks on antibiotics may be needed. If you don’t see any improvement at all after a week-10 days, you may need to change to another antibiotic or combine two kinds of antibiotics.

It is pretty much par for the…[Read more]

Hello everyone, I am new to this page and have been reading different posts to help me with my bunny, Oliver, and was hoping for some more guidance. I’ve been a wreck so anything you have to add is so appreciated.

My 1.5 year old mini rex, Oliver, is a very sweet but anxious bun. He hates being handled and will honk/whine/hide and do b…[Read more]

Thanks DanaNM – clearly I’m a worrier 😆  I do have a cardboard box in her cage but she seems to like to be next to the box in the corner better and then hides her head under a log hideaway.  I agree, she probably will be more comfortable in the evening when everyone is gone.  Thanks as always 🙂

If she has eaten something I would leave her be to let her settle in. Laying down is a relaxed position. Does she had a hide? Even a simple one like a cardboard box should help her feel more safe.

I would try not to hover too much to let her adjust to her new surroundings. She will likely explore and eat more tonight once everyone goes to sleep.…[Read more]

Her breathing is fine and there’s no sign of congestion or discharge. I hate to see her go back on antibiotics if she doesn’t need them. She had a tiny whistle from her nose yesterday but that didn’t last very long. I thought I saw a very small amount of dried mucous on the side of her food dish two days ago, but it was very small. I thought it mi…[Read more]

Spider bun! Haha! Unfortunately, this isn’t unusual. The good news is she will literally grow out of this. Once they reach a certain size, it just doesn’t work anymore. And yes, spaying her will also help calm her down.

Hmm… yellow mucus suggests a current or recent infection. Believe me, I’ve had sinus infections before and what comes out is not pretty! LOL  The yellow stuff could be “dead” though. She was on antibiotics for 21 days. Perhaps she had some gunk trapped up in there and she was finally able to expel it? How is her breathing now? Does she sound…[Read more]

I picked up a new foster bun named Hawaii at noon today.  I brought her back, she wandered around a tiny bit, and then I left her alone so she could sleep.

Right now it’s 10pm, and she still hasn’t really woken up and done much.  She came out to have tiny bits of hay, and came out to eat the veggies I put out for her, but then she retreats back t…[Read more]

Well, here we go again with Charlie. She had a checkup last Tuesday with vet and got the all clear. No discharge, breathing sounded clear, gained weight. She had been on sulfamethoxasile/trimetoprim for 21 days.

She still ha an occasional sneeze, but very light and not forceful. Vet believed she has allergies to something in house and that is the…[Read more]

Is your bunny doing any better?  My late bunny Cincinnati had e cuniculi (tested for it).  He had to have fenbendazole.  His second symptom, and the only one recognized as a symptom at the time, was seizures.  Your rabbit may need more than one run of it.  Don’t give it for more than 28 days at a time.  On day 29 it affects bone marrow.

I have a problem behavior that I cant seem to find a solution to. Currently I have two rabbits, the older one Juniper, is more or less a model rabbit. But the rabbit bonded to him died.  Due to covid, I had difficultly finding an older unbonded spayed rabbit to bond with him, so I got a young unspayed one.  they have their own room, and have b…[Read more]

It isn’t unusual for fur mites to not show up on skin scrapings, etc.

Revolution can be used to treat fur mites, but it isn’t always effective. So the problem may or may not be the environment. It sounds like you’ve cleaned pretty thoroughly… so you would think that would have been sufficient. If the Revolution isn’t working, perhaps it is time…[Read more]

Hi everyone, my Holland lop has been given a dose of revolution once a month for the past 3 months…Yesterday I noticed a lot of skin flakes around the back of his head and neck so I spoke to our rabbit knowledgeable vet and she has decided to do the treatment every two weeks.
