Whew, glad to hear! He likes to flop and roll around on his mat, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen him sleep that deeply before.
Thank you so much, I feel a lot better knowing that he’s doing just fine. 😀

Some fun news on our part; we sent in an application for a puppy at a local shelter! My (and the bunnies’ room) is pretty separated from the rest of our house, so keeping the puppy and the bunnies separate shouldn’t be a problem. Hoping he’s a match for us!!

OK so I talked to one of the lead bonders at the rescue about this and she had a couple thoughts!
First though, I just re-read your first post and see that it’s been about 4 weeks since his neuter. 4 weeks is the avg time for hormones to settle, but of course it can take longer in some bunnies. So waiting a couple more weeks might be a good next…[Read more]

My bunnies do this when they are sleeping deeply and dreaming. 🙂 I confess it was quite alarming the first time I saw it!
He must trust you a lot to sleep that deeply on your lap!

I’m sitting in my chair with Timothy flopped on my lap and taking a nap. About 10 minutes ago, his entire body started twitching/shaking and I think his eyes were open and dilating. It happened very quickly, about 10 seconds or so, and then stopped. He did it again a few minutes later. Right now, he’s awake and licking my sleeve.
Is this…[Read more]

Thank you all so much for your replies. He does stand up some times and actually while petting him today his was all lounged out he let me lift his tail up but it’s so fluffy under there I don’t know if I’m looking for the right thing! lol! I took a picture but not sure if you could tell from this? Thanks again for all your input and help, I was f…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic My Holland Lop keeps digging out her litterbox🤦🏼♀️ in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 9 months ago
I agree that a screen can be helpful. I used a plastic knitting mesh/canvas (7-count hole size). One of my rabbits sometimes digs in the litterbox, and since the screen is cut to size, it doesn’t budge and can withstand the digging. An important part is the holes are smaller than her nails, so she can’t actually dig up the screen if she tried.

Thank you all for your advice. I’ve never had a pet I had the chance to bond with, so I’ve been dreading her loss pretty much since I’ve had her… I’ll be looking for ways to support her better as she ages. Thank you.

It was quite cheap, actually, and I’ve noticed that the little one walks and runs around plenty (still not as much as before, but she’s clearly more comfortable) now. Thank you for your advice!

Haha! I almost specified… not THAT Fellowship! LOL
While I was there one of my co-workers was an extra on The Hobbit set though!
I didn’t end up doing any of the LOTR tours, but it really does feel like Middle Earth there, aside from all the sheep!

Hold on. You lived in Wellington, on a fellowship? Was it… The Fellowship… of the Ring??
Sorry, my LOTR nerd came out. 😉

I lived there for about 9 months on a fellowship! I looved it. I was in Wellington, so it was very windy and pretty cold. Not cold enough to snow but consistently chilly.

The screen should help a lot! They have always helped my diggers. Also a deeper box that makes it harder to kick everything out of.
You could also make her a digging box to give her a better way to exercise that instinct. Digging is very fun for some rabbits. 🙂

Hey everyone! We need help!
So for the last 2 weeks, my Holland Lop, Winnie, who is spayed, has been digging EVERYTHING from her litter box out. But here’s the catch, she only does it early in the mornings.
It doesn’t matter if we change her litter everyday and leave behind some of her poops so it it doesn’t smell so clean or if we fully clean…[Read more]

I couldnt agree with Hazel more. Adult rabbits do not like being picked up. Some can learn to accept it, but that doesn’t mean they like it. For a rabbit, being picked up is the first step towards becoming someone’s dinner.
I’m sorry the vet tech made you feel horrible about that. Rabbits are an important source of food for many predators of…[Read more]
