Sometimes un-rabbit savvy vets will prescribe antibiotics for tummy trouble. Sometimes they help, sometimes they make things worse. What antibiotic were you given?
Typical stasis treatments are fluids, syringe feeding, and pain management. Sometimes a motility med is needed. The poops strung together with fur mean that she might be having some…[Read more]

What antibiotic did you get? Metronidazole can have good effect on a possible tummy infection. Its sold under various brand names, Flagyl being one, but it should be possible to find the name of the active substance somewhere on the package.
There are several antibiotics that can be safely given to rabbits. Here’s Medirabbit’s list of Safe…[Read more]

Alright so we went to the vet’s and apparently her teeth are fine? I was expecting there to be an obvious issue with them but the vet didn’t see any. She says she can’t see any clear problem with Rain but gave us some antibiotics in case she has an infection that could be causing this. Does this sound trustworthy to you guys? I don’t mean to unde…[Read more]

It takes most bunnies at least a few days to settle in, so I would give it at least a couple weeks to see how you feel. If you are in communication with the rescue, maybe you can ask them to put a hold on the bunny that you bonded with right away just in case you don’t feel it’s a great match after a couple weeks.
All of that said, some of my…[Read more]

Well, we moved all of our stuff to San Diego over the weekend, and are going to swoop up the pets today! And… drumroll…. we are going to bring Copper with us! If it doesn’t work out with the group or Bonnie I will have to bring him back though.
Going to have them all ride together in the car on the drive and hope I can get the group…[Read more]

I’m very sorry for your loss, Melrose was a very handsome boy! Not sure on the breed but I see possibly see a little dwarf in him, maybe a hint of dutch as he has that white stripe down his face?
You made the right choice, as you know him best. While we all wish our buns will live to 15, 8 years old is firmly a senior bunny and it sounds like he…[Read more]

first of all, i hope you get past your demons, and live the life you wish for. second, if you haven’t done your research, do it now. third, its completely normal for them to be scared of you! if you got them from a pet shop, they’re most likely babies. give them time. don’t immediately show love 24/7 unless you have to. always try to stay on their…[Read more]

I wonder if her teeth are still bothering her a bit from her dental? Give her history, I wouldn’t force the issue too much and keep giving her recovery food as needed to keep her food intake up. I would double check with the vet, but since the rescue food is formulated to be 100% of the diet, I think it would be better for her to get more…[Read more]

It’s hard to know with young bunnies whether it’s territorial or they just don’t care LOL. It can also help to restrict her space to just her pen for a few days to see if that helps. I’ve also found carefresh litter to be really good for litter training, something about the soft texture makes bunnies inclined to pee on it.

Thanks!
And yes we will get her spayed when she is old enough. We were hoping to avoid having to go the route of an additional litter box but if she doesn’t start getting better soon we may give that a try and hope her habits improve in a few months after she is spayed. Thankfully for us she prefers peeing on the hard wood floors rather than o…[Read more]

I’m someone dealing with mental illnesses such as anxiety and PTSD, and as I adore rabbits and they’re a comfort animal, I adopted a bonded female pair yesterday. I know it’s ridiculously soon to question this, but how long should I give it to know if they’re right for me?
At the same rescud I got them, there was a bunny who immediately licked me…[Read more]

Need some advice or suggestions for my sweet, sassy 9-year old lop who is something of a marvel-miracle house rabbit. She is a special needs rabbit, medically fragile, and a deeply loved elderbun. She has survived many health conditions (chronic respiratory infections) and suffers from terrible dental issues (she has her teeth filed every 4-7…[Read more]
