Admittedly having a hard time imagining it, but if you’re using Tespo stuff to create barriers/pens, that gets a green-light from me! Tespo has been most reliable as building blocks for the permanent pens and set-ups I’ve made for my rabbits! As long as it’s secure and can handle potential shoving/jumping/chewing from the rabbits, it should be OK!

Upon a closer look I actually think I see a bit of yellow scabbing at the bottom? Unsure if that’s wet or scab, but if it is, that is more on track for syphilis.

One of my rabbits looks somewhat similar and I believe it’s from bar chewing. If the rabbit was kept in a hutch for most of its life, it could be from constantly trying to get out?
If it is from bar chewing, it should get better in a better environment.
Notably my same rabbit also had syphilis. Syphilis can come from birth from an infected…[Read more]

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate your insights.
It seems that he took a downward swing overnight. His temp is up to 105.8, so I am waiting for the vet to open to get him in. His ears are cold though, which is different than before when his fever was this high. I’m keeping them damp with a Washcloth like the vet showed me.
This morning , he h…[Read more]

The pandemic wasn’t really sth you could plan for, except regarding the absolute basics, like having a small stash of extra food and meds at home. Don’t beat yourself up about that. Never mind what people say, nobody can ever be fully catastrophe-prepared. There are situations when it would be unwise to get a pet, f ex if you are severly in debt…[Read more]

Hi I got my rabbit Marble from our local Humane Society and I’ve had her for maybe around 2 months now and for maybe around a week I’ve noticed the area around her mouth has been raw. I took her to the vet a couple weeks after a first got her and they gave her the all clear but I plan to take her in again as soon as I can get an…[Read more] -

I agree. It doesn’t sound like this is anything urgent. Try the hay-only diet and see what happens.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Best option when going out of town? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 8 months ago
Personally, I would go with option A. But I guess it depends on your sister’s house and how adaptable your bunny is. For me, less out time is less traumatic than completely changing environments. My parents have always just come for feedings, etc. and there have been no problems.

Thank you both so much for your responses. It’s helping me to keep a positive mindset.
@wick, I really appreciate what you said. It’s hard to not to think “If only I…”. As much as I’ve studied and learned, there is much that can only be learned by living with bunnies. I’m sure trying by best.

The earlier GI stasis and its precipitating factors are being treated, the better the prognosis. GI stasis is usually caused by something. Some sort of strain or distress that in one way or another leads to a slow down of the gut. In this case, it’s possible the stress of a URI and whatever is going on with the lip sort of triggered his body to…[Read more]
