Thank you both for your replies and great information.
I prepared to separate their spaces but realised they’d each claimed a portion of the space available (they’re currently taking up whole dining room and most of the kitchen). I’ve got a small WiFi cam / baby monitor so used that to see what they were like overnight, fairly chilled out, small…[Read more]

Of course no toys resembling bunnies! Do you keep them together in one room? I mean rabbit lives with me in my room and I don’t actually know if I can place rabbit into the same room from day one when I get him? I actually think it would be better to give a couple of days to the cat but I don’t want to discriminate the rabbit since he is alw…[Read more]

Thanks both for your responses. Last night we tried with an x pen fence between them and it seemed to work really well – no violence at all, and now the barrier is gone they seem happily exploring together (for now). Pumpkin is quite relieved and Hero is more chilled out.
They have had vet check ups recently, Hero went through some gas problems…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic recurring GI issues — hay only diet? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 7 months ago
It sounds like if anything was an issue, it was transitioning from regular oxbow to oxbow bounty; not veggies, since he’s had them before with no trouble. It might have been the transition was not gradual enough, so his stomach became distressed in trying to digest something it was not used to? Many people feed oxbow essentials, and while those…[Read more]

I’m sorry no one replied to your thread. How are things going for your rabbit?

It may be just shedding then, but I’d keep an eye if the skin patch gets bigger. How big is it now would you say? While rabbits can have bare skin from molting, they are usually not big.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic plastic litter box issues in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 7 months ago
You could cover the edges in cardboard or something, though fastening the cardboard onto it may be difficult. I find rabbits are more likely to chew plastic litterboxes if they are one of those that have designated high walls and low walls — I think there being different heights makes it tempting to chew down the high sides, haha. Also, I think…[Read more]

Up until recently I have been using disposable cat litter boxes for my rabbit. However, tractor supply apparently no longer sells them anymore so I had to get a small plastic cat letterbox for him. Barney loves to chew everything so I’m a little nervous to give him this litter box but he’s chewing and ripping up the last disposable litter box that…[Read more]

That doesn’t sound like normal bonded pair behavior to me (with the fur pulling). If the chasing was more about mounting, then I think that’s more normal (one of my pairs does this every night). But if the chased bun is obviously in distress, that’s not good and can lead to problems down the road.
When she chases, are her ears forward or back? Is…[Read more]

I agree it sounds very much like a dental problem, which can lead to stasis if they stop eating. Can you syringe feed her and/or offer her favorite soft greens? Or try offering some pellet mash. If she isn’t pooping she may already be in stasis, not eating or pooping for more than 12 hours is an emergency.

Unless the cat has an extremely high prey drive, then it normally isn’t much of an issue. They will tolerate each other, but probably won’t be friends. I would definitely recommend supervision, especially in the beginning.

I agree with what Wick said. A little deviation is OK and, no, probiotics are not required. I’ve personally never used them for any of my rabbits.

The yellow crusties seem syphilis-ish to me, but it could be ringworm too. As the others said, rabbits can have it since birth, only to have it surface later in life.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Antibiotics in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 7 months ago
- Yes, 1-2 hour deviation is typically OK!
- Probiotics after antibiotics is not required. It can have no to some benefit, depending on the rabbit. If your rabbit is having severe gastric distress after an antibiotic, I would strongly suggest changing medication, rather than a probiotic. Probiotics people commonly use are Benebac, though there is…

Hello everyone, my mini rex Dobo ended up having to go on antibiotics and two questions
1. It says to give every 12 hours however with my work schedule thats nearly impossible to do exactly 12. Is giving an hour or two late/early alright?
2. Do you recommend probiotics following up after antibiotic treatment? If so what? My vet said it was…[Read more]

I am honestly speaking from naiveté, but my understanding is that bonds can sometimes go through a rough spot, similar to a little tiff in a human relationship. I think taking some precautionary steps, including doing a physical barrier so the aggressive chasing and bullying stops happening would be wise. The more negative interactions…[Read more]
